He’d already found lemonade?

Or was it already my turn to be interviewed? I got to my feet, not feeling prepared. My head was full of baby stuff.

“Come in?”

Loïc swept into the room, dressed in beat-up blue jeans, a band T-shirt in a language I couldn’t read, a black leather jacket, and silver rings that reminded me of the one I still had sitting in my jewelry box. He looked like the lead singer of a heavy metal band.

He pulled me almost violently against his hard chest.

“Ma jolie, being away from you has been completely unbearable.”

My heart fluttered all over again. Being this in love with two men felt wrong and downright greedy, but there was no denying I was. “Loïc! What are you doing here? How did you know where I was?”

I sighed, burying my face in his shirt. His grip on the back of my neck was gentle but possessive.

“If I’d had a choice, I would have followed you home from Spain, but I wanted to check on Minnow and the new babies. I visited my therapist, too, since I hadn’t seen them for ages.”

“Minnow had the babies?” I squealed. “When?”

“Didn’t I say? That’s where I was before I met you in Spain.”

“No! You never mentioned it.” I gave his chest a playful smack that made him grab my wrist and growl affectionately.

“Dieu. The two of you are so distracting, I forgot to tell you.” He grinned. “Two boys—Aurelius and Tiberius. Everyone is well.”

“They must be so excited! Oh—and congratulations on being an uncle again.”

He kissed me long and deep, then sighed.

“The three of them are elated. It was beautiful. I was so honored—they let me wait right outside the door.” His eyes gleamed with pride. He was such a good uncle.

He held me against his body, breathing me in. Lust hit me with a strange, potent intensity.

“You smell different,” he murmured in my ear, making me shiver.

“It’s probably the hairspray.”

He buried his face in my neck, sniffing me.

Men who could tell a woman was pregnant by smelling her had to be a myth, right?

“I love the names they chose,” I said, trying to calm my wildly beating heart. This would be a good segue into telling him I was pregnant, but he’d missed the excitement of the pregnancy test, so I needed to make this somehow special.

He drew back slightly so he could study my face. “Minnow has unusual taste, but Sev and Ro knew what they were in for after she named their dogs.”

He led me to the couch and sat me down. Although he perched on upholstered cushions next to me, he was like a tightly coiled spring.

“I missed you,” I admitted sheepishly.

“You missed Loïc?”

“Of course! I had no idea where you were, and no way to get a hold of you.”

“Why? What’s wrong?” His silvery blue eyes widened with concern. “It’s only been a few days. I lost my phone again.”

“Nothing—” I opened my mouth to tell him, then decided I should wait at least until Valor came back. “Did you see Valor? He just left.”

“No,” he smiled and looked toward the door. “Why is he here?”
