Fuck.

I absolutely was.

Chapter Twenty: Tarryn

The long, winding driveway through the trees felt like the beginning of a movie. Dark, threatening clouds lurked, but the rain was holding off for now, at least.

“Such a shame it’s not sunny today. It looks so austere when it’s dreary out,” Loïc explained, adorably nervous.

“I’m sure it’s great,” Valor said.

“I ordered new furniture, but it won’t be delivered until next week.”

“We’ll make do with whatever you have. We’re only here for a few days, for now.”

It warmed my heart to see Valor encouraging him. He was starting to see who Loïc was underneath all the sexy chaos.

Loïc had explained that having a residence close to his family was imperative to him. The idea of having in-laws-to-be after so many years of not having anyone but us was weird, but we couldn’t have chosen family that we enjoyed to be with more.

Was it uncomfortable that Valor and I used to enjoy having sex while watching one of our new brothers-in-law and our sister-in-law have sex? Sure, but I trusted that would fade. Occasionally, I got little flashbacksof it, but it had been long enough ago that I could pretend it was a weird dream.

This morning, Loïc had paraded us over to their place to see the babies, and to announce our engagement (since they’d somehow missed seeing it on TV and social media) and my pregnancy. Minnow and Rodrigo had been shocked, but excited for us. Severin had mumbled something polite, but later I’d seen him approach Loïc and give him the world’s most awkward hug.

“If there’s anything you don’t like, I’ll pay someone to fix it—or I’ll buy us another house you like better. Or we can build a new one,” Loïc said earnestly, glancing at me where I sat in the passenger seat. It was weird having Valor sit behind me, but I supposed we’d eventually come up with a system for driving around together.

I smiled at Loïc. “How bad can it be? Valor and I were poor when we were first married. A house that needs redecorating can’t be that shocking.”

“It’s probably worse than your first apartment. Hopefully, I didn’t leave too much of a mess. I can’t remember.”

Valor chuckled. “Don’t worry. We’re expecting the place to be feather lined and jam packed with baubles.”

“I’m not a crow, Davenport.”

The trees parted to reveal the type of large but understated house I would have instinctively call a manor if we were in England rather than New England, although it was far too new to be of any historical significance. Elegant gray stone with black trim and shutters? How unexpectedly sedate for a man with such a wild soul. The front lawn had been professionally landscaped at one point but was overgrown and unloved. I itched to get in there and fix it.

“Wowww.” I leaned forward, trying to get a better look at the upper floors. The truck’s ceiling was obstructing my view. “How many bedrooms are there?”

“Only ten. We may outgrow it eventually.”

Valor sputtered. “We’re not really going to keep her pregnant for the rest of her fertile years.”

“Have you two been plotting behind my back?” I laughed and shook my head.

“Get used to it, woman.” Loïc’s gruff words were tempered by his wink.

I splayed a protective hand over my small baby bump. They swore they could barely tell, but ever since I’d noticed the modest bulge, it had distracted me, my hand returning to it again and again. I’d have to tell work soon, or they’d figure it out on their own.

The truck rolled to a stop, and Loïc put it in park. He paused, regarding me with big, worried silver eyes. I cupped his cheek and he leaned into it, like an attention-starved dog. He still wasn’t big on cuddling yet, but the desire for connection was growing.

“There should be a few years between babies, so they can get some undivided attention,” I warned my men.

“That might be true for couples, but there’s three of us,” Loïc pointed out.

I snorted. “And maybe I don’t want to spend the next decade or two constantly pregnant!”

Valor threaded his arm between the seats and held my jaw, then put his lips to my ear. “I don’t remember Loïc or I asking you what you wanted, Nymph. We’ll breed your hot little body anytime our dicks get hard.”

Heat burnedthrough me, part embarrassment and part excitement.
