I looked at the circle trying to visualize the spell, seeing different options until I decided to change a few things at the last minute. She said I had to trust myself, trust in love and that’s exactly what I was going to do.

Once I finished, I stood back to see the circle, still feeling nervous about what I had changed, but I knew it was the right thing to do. Vivienne’s circle had been similar and I think this is what I needed to break the spell.

I stuffed the bag I brought with me behind the furniture closest to the circle. This was my contingency plan, I hoped I didn’t have to use it. Looking back at the circle, I walked away from the spell before I decided to throw the whole thing out the window and start over again. My mood was a lot better as I left the library, walking back up to my room to get ready. I couldn’t help the smile that had crept up on my face. Tonight, I was going with whatever was going to happen.

When I walked into our room, a beautiful dress had been laid out on the bed for me. It was gold and black. It looked likesomething a princess would wear, and I didn’t know what to think. What the hell were these guys up to?

Excitement fluttered in my chest as I went to the bathtub. Someone had already put essential oils in the tub, and the bathroom smelled amazing. The bath was relaxing, almost making me want to sleep in it.

I didn’t know how much time I had to get ready, but I tried to rush through doing my hair and my makeup. It had been a while since I had gotten dolled up like this. Yule was our last holiday we actually did something like this.

The lingerie I picked out would be perfect for the dress, hoping this meal went into a group session. As much as I loved having individual time with the guys, when we were all together it was everything. They were everything.

The dress slipped on like a glove—I had honestly been worried it wouldn’t fit with being pregnant and all— it accentuated my waist and the slit showed off just enough leg. The gold leaves all over it looked delicately sewn on with bits of glitter that caught the light just right. I tried to get the rest of the zipper up but I couldn’t get a good handle on it.

“You look beautiful.”

I turned around to see Mr. Potter coming into the room.

“Thanks, Mr. Potter,” I said, blushing.

“I can help with the zipper,” he said, waiting for me to respond.

I nodded as he zipped up the rest of the dress.

“Where did you find this?” I smoothed out the dress, loving the unique sleeves that were off the shoulder in a flowing manner to my elbows.

I kept my hair up to show off my mate marks and because the dress deserved all the attention. It was absolutely gorgeous.

“Your sister brought it. I didn’t know if it was for a different reason or if it was hers, but I thought it would be perfect for you for tonight,” he said, looking even more ghostly.

“Thank you,” I said, getting teary-eyed thinking that this was Serena’s and how I missed her so much. I had buried my heartache to finish this spell, but every so often my heartache came to the surface, and it was like she died all over again.

“I came to bring you downstairs and also to bring you this.” He held up a beautiful necklace that had a crescent moon in gold with one small diamond and another necklace with a sun and another small moonstone. “They used to belong to Zev's mothers.”

My heart pounded erratically while my palms got sweaty and my mind went blank on what to do. I stared at the jewelry, wondering what kind of relationship he had with Zev’s parents.

“I know I've talked about them before, but they were great women who led this pack and if we still had one, I know you would be a great leader with the boys,” he said, with so much love in his voice.

He always called them his boys. It warmed my heart and made me grateful that he made the sacrifice for them. He stayed here when no one else had, and kept them from losing themselves.

I launched myself at him, hugging him with everything I had in me because if I didn’t do it now, I knew I might not be able to say goodbye tomorrow.

“I know our families have always been fighting, and you had every right to be cold and rude to me, but you gave me a chance. You gave me a chance that not even my family had given me and I…” I choked on my last word. “I love you for that.”

“I didn’t think I would ever say those words to a Belladonna,” he chuckled. “But I love you too, and I’m so glad I've been able to see you grow within this last year. You were a greatwoman before, but now, my darling, you are unstoppable and incredible.”

I cried in his embrace once again. Even if we were mad at each other, Mr. Potter always managed to make everything better. Wish he could work his meddling grandma ways on this spell so that we could be free.

He pulled away, holding me by my shoulder. “You make sure they know who is queen, don’t take any shit from them. Lucien can survive on hugs even when he’s upset. Aeon needs time to process things, but he is soft for a good book. And Zev’s temper always gets the best of him, but I think you know how to handle him. He acts tough but Zev is just a big teddy bear as you like to say. I’m so glad you found your way to each other.”

More tears escaped, wondering if there was any way I could keep this man with us, but he needed to go home to his mate. He fucking deserved it.

“I’ll make sure they know who is boss,” I said, patting my face dry.

“I have no doubt you will, Katarina. I meant what I said that you are the yin to their yang. No one is better suited for you than them and they are lucky to have you.” He smiled before he let me go. “Now turn around, so I can put these on you.”

“I don’t know if I should wear them,” I said, feeling unsure about wearing Zev’s mothers’ jewelry.
