“What do you think?” Christy asked, leaning in.

“I think we should run at the count of three,” I answered, glancing at the tables one after the other.

Men in tailored suits orchestrated games with deft hands, their expressions inscrutable as they presided over rounds of high-stakes poker, blackjack, and roulette. Just a glance at them and I knew they were elites. It was easy to tell by the bodyguards that surrounded the tables, their expression as stoic as rocks as they protected their bosses.

My hands grew clampy, and I could feel panic works its way up from my belly to my throat.

Christy waved me off. “Don’t be dramatic, we’re not the only ones here.”

“We’re not,” I whispered back. Though I was fairly certain no one could hear us through the jazz performance from the musicians in a secluded alcove. “We’re not, but do you know what everyone else here has in common.”

She tapped her temple, thinking for a moment before shaking her head. “What?”

“Bodyguards. They all have the protection of their bodyguards and we don’t. If something goes wrong, we’ll notescape it. Let’s go.” I shouldn’t have agreed to visit an illegal casino. I shouldn’t have come here tonight.

Christy frowned, reluctant to leave. I reached out to her wrist, grabbing her and dragging her to the door the same way she dragged me in. “Be mad all you want, but I’m not staying here and you’re coming with me.”

“You must be fun at parties.”

“I am fun at parties,” I agreed, ignoring the obvious sarcasm in her tone. “Not just at this one.”

Once we reached the door, one of the bouncers in front standing by the side stepped forward and opened his palms. “Your passes.”

“Um—” I nodded at Christy, signaling her to give him our passes. “It’s right here.”

“We’re leaving after spending barely five minutes, don’t you think they’ll find it suspicious?”

“Who cares? Give them the passes.”

The door suddenly opened, a man stepped into the casino with bodyguards behind him. I lost all reasoning as I stared at him, my mouth dropping open as his piercing blue eyes met mine, because there was no way in the world any human looked that handsome.

He was tall and muscular, his hair so dark and long they were reaching his shoulders despite being held in a ponytail. The golden hoops earrings on his ears reflected the red light in the background.

The viper and rose tattoo creeping up his neck gave me all the signs that there was nothing ordinary about this man. The white leather jacket and pants he was wearing was a stark contrast to his dark aura.

I could sniff how dangerous he was from a mile away, and I would do myself a favor sprinting out of this place and running for my dear life.

Yet I couldn’t. I was too captivated by him to even think right.

He took one step closer, a wicked smile playing on his lips. Stopping in front of me, his gaze scrutinizes me from head to toe, basically setting me ablaze.

My heart stopped right there and then. He was vine full of poison, and my throat was itching to have a taste of him.

Just one deathly taste of him would do.

Chapter 2 - Vlad

This woman—I had no idea who she was or what she was doing here, but one thing was as clear as the glitter in her eyes; She didn’t belong here.

She was too petite, looked too fragile and innocent for a world as ugly as mine—the mafia. From the way she was looking at me, I knew she hadn’t known what she signed up for when she walked in here. Judging from the guilty look on her friends face, it was obvious she was responsible for dragging this beauty into this dark hole.

I’d just opened my own casino and club after trying to convince my older brother, Sergey, for months. I wouldn’t let anyone ruin it, and the girl in front of me looked like the type to go to the police and run her mouth. I should’ve pointed a gun to her head right there and then, gotten it over with.

But I couldn’t. Not when those beautiful, big, brown eyes were staring back at me like that. Not when I’d already imagined the hundred ways I wanted to touch her.

She was fucking gorgeous. Tits that bounced at the slightest movement in her mini gown, curves that could make a man lose his damn mind, a face that looked like it was carved out by God himself, and long, curly platinum blonde hair that reached her waist.

My cock was expanding in my pants just from looking at her. I’d never seen any woman this pretty. Never.
