“Ow!” I hissed, aiming a glare at Christy through the mirror. “Why are you brushing my hair again?”

She hummed and flashed a smile at me. We were dressed in similar clothes; matching white cropped shirts that had ‘Smile’ printed across then andshortshorts that stopped just below the curve of our bums. We wore our hair down and topped off the look with smoky makeup and red lipstick.

“Uh, because I'm trying to apologize for last night?”

“You said nothing wrong.”

“I might have stepped overboard with the Johnny Dewey story.”

“You loved that movie,” I patted my hand atop my head, subtly inspecting the line parting the center. “It's totally understandable that you'd want to replay memorable scenes with every chance you get.”

She smirked and dropped the brush. “Touché”

My phone pinged and I picked it off the table. It was a text message from…

Instantly, a smile broke out on my face.

Vlad: I'm outside.

I caught Christy roll her eyes and collapsed on the edge of the bed. She'd seen the text. “Looks like you finally have a reason to keep the clothes on.”

Grinning, I rose from the chair. It was the weekend, and I'd suggested we do something fun and spontaneous. Christy had eagerly agreed. We finished a bucket of chocolate ice cream and blueberry muffins, and played dress up, like silly teenagers who had nothing better to do but sit all day in front of a mirror.

“Yeah.”

She lay on the bed and busied herself with her phone. “See you later, then?”

Christy's dislike for Vlad was as obvious as the bright clouds in the blue sky. But she was trying not to make a fuss, and I appreciated her effort.

I wore ankle boots and hurried out. “See you later.”

I stepped out to the porch and shut the door behind me. He stood by his motorcycle with his legs slightly spread apart and his hands tucked into the pocket of his leather jacket. He wore a black jacket underneath and black jeans and had his hair up in a ponytail. He didn't need to tell me; we were going bike riding.

Black ink peeked above the collar of his jacket and I had the sudden urge to run my fingers over it.

He cocked his head to the side, his blue eyes ogling as I approached him. He shifted his weight from one foot and his gaze darkened. “Were you going somewhere?”

“Not until you came along.” I flashed him a smile. “Hey.”

He smelled nice, as always. Musk and perfume. I wanted to muzzle my nose between his neck to smell more of it. Heat spread through my body, warming my cheeks and the lips between my legs. Something about his presence made me bold, more daring. Audacious.

I gawked at his lips. Pink, thin, and tempting.

I stood on my tiptoe and leaned into him, pressing my lips on the spot beside them. His eyelid fluttered and I heard the sharp inhale, and the harsh thumps of his heart against his ribcage.Da-dam. Da-dam.He slid an arm around my waist and twisted his head. He was fast, greedy, wanting to claim. But I jerked backward, just in time to miss the light brush of his lips against mine.

Fire, Mariana. You’re playing with fire.

“We are going riding, aren't we?” I teased.

Something dark, but playful crossed his eyes, and the corner of his lips curled upward. His hot breath fanned my face when he said, “You could ride other things.”

I blushed. Hard. Another audacious wave swept over me, and I moved my lips to his ear. “I think I need help. I couldn’t stop thinking about you last night.”

It was direct, and I delivered the message clearly. I wanted him. Icravedthis man so much, I clamped my legs tightly to keep the warm pool from soaking my thong. It was crazy how easily my body responded to him.

He's not yours…

I shut out the voice in my mind and gently flicked my tongue under his earlobe. He growled and loosened his grip. I took a step backward.
