“No. You listen. You can’t just railroad me. I’m not going to be a dutiful wife who stays home while her mobbed up husband goes and sleeps with every woman around. No, I won’t do it. Why do you think we did this?” I slap my hand over my mouth and watch as his eyebrow arches up.

“So, you are a part of the plot?” he asks quietly. If his lips weren’t moving, I’d doubt he spoke. I shrug. “You know that Grayson’s place, the Lucky Dice, isn’t part of the Bratva? He just got married and has no children out there. He didn’t leave you and your sisters like your fathers did.”

I shrug again and cringe. “I—It wasn’t just the Lucky Dice, and I don’t know what they did. I just gave them money,” I confess. “I haven’t given them anything since my father cut me off, and I wasn’t sure about doing this from the get-go. But Ainsley said it was the only way. I don’t know what they did to the Lucky Dice. I didn’t know about Grayson.”

“We have to get married so I can protect you. ThePakhanwill come after you if I don’t. If you are a part of the family and stop this scheme, he’ll give you a chance.”

I raise a brow because I doubt that. “That doesn’t seem right. Are they going to go after my sisters? All the casino and game rooms?”

“I’ll handle anything else against you. I’ve taken care of the debt. As for your sisters, after we have the discussion with Grayson tomorrow, everything will be decided. Wait a minute. You didn’t just target the Lucky Dice?”

“No. Ainsley hired runners and made anonymous calls for every cardroom and gambling establishment. I only gave her money. Oh, and information on the Melody. I never gave them information on anything else.”

He curses in the Russian word he used last night.

“What does that word mean?” I ask as I try to get out from where he has me trapped on the counter.

“Ublyudok?” he asks, and I nod, giving up on getting away from him. “Bastard. Please stop fighting. I want you here. I’m not letting you go. I told you last night how I feel about you. We will get married. I don’t tell many people those words.”

I don’t know what he means about how he feels. He told me I was only his. That he only wanted me.

“For how long?” I ask, thinking he’s saying we are only getting married until everything blows over.

“Forever, kukla. You’re mine and I’m yours. Remember?” He leans into me, and I give him my lips. He pulls back after a moment and tilts his head to the side in thought.

“At first, we thought this all had to do with Duncan. He was so pissed at Grayson and blames him for losing the property, but Grayson got it fair and square.”

“Wait.” I shake my head and hold my hand up to stop him. “Duncan told the girls he stole it. That’s the only reason they went after it. That and they saw Bratva people there.”

“Only Andrei goes there with us to visit Gray. Oh, well, he used to, but no Bratva business is done on that property. It’s not a part of us. It’s for those that want to get out legitimately.”

“That’s not what Ainsley says. She works there. She said mafia comes in all the time. That business is handled in the bar and rooms are comped all the time.”

He shakes his head. “Where is Ainsley getting her information? Because I can tell you that isn’t true.”

He presses into me.

“Now, you will marry me this evening. We can call your father, but I’d prefer not to be around him right now. That woman was dead set on getting you to break up with me. She threw that drink in your face. She could have hurt you more. Plus, this should get the Triad off our backs too. You’ll be protected by the Bratva, my soldiers, and brigadiers.” He leans back and waves to the house surrounding us. “Besides, you did say you’d live here and help me fill it with babies.”

I don’t know what to do, but there isn’t much choice. I love him. He not only protects me, but he calms the craziness in my head. He makes me feel wanted, needed, and cherished. All things I’ve desired.

“Okay.”

He leans toward me and kisses me deep as a ring sounds through the house. He pulls away and lifts me off the counter.

“Go get showered and dressed. That is probably Sparrow.” He smacks my ass and smiles.

“I do want her here with me. I can’t have Lyric and Ainsley because I need to find the right time to tell them about us. As for my father, I don’t want him here.” I look at Dmitri and then toward the door. “You better get dressed too. I don’t want my sister seeing what’s mine either.” I wave my hand up and down his body.

He laughs as he moves toward me. He picks me up with his hands at my ass, and I lean down to kiss him as we move to our room.

“We’ll be out shortly. Coffee and tea are ready,” he hollers as the front door opens, and he slams our bedroom door closed.

It ends up taking us longer because he took me against the shower wall before we made it out to Andrei and Sparrow.
