I’ve seen him as a cold leader the whole year he’s been working toward his goal of CEO. Now I realize he’s been withholding that other side of him, showing us the dark side of his moon when there is a whole other half of it lit up by the sun.

Maybe that’s a lot to garner just from the way he handles me while dancing. But it’s my sister’s wedding and I’ve had quite a bit of champagne. Let a girl live a little.

“You’ve got rhythm,” he remarks. Objective. Fact.

“Have to when I’m trying at my keyboard all day.”

Orlie smirks. “Is that so?”

I’m about to answer, but I’m cut off when Orlie gently pushes my waist, spinning me out away from him on the floor, keeping his hand tethered to mine.

I do my best to be graceful, however, trying not to fall off balance doesn’t really lend itself to that.

“I wasn’t ready!” I hiss back at him.

Orlie grins.Grins!I’ve never seen him grin in my life.

“Fine, you ready?”

He spins me back into his arms and this time, I’m prepared. My back lands against his chest as he curls his arms around me. I laugh.

“Not too bad, not too bad,” he mutters right in my ear.

We continue to sway back and forth in this position. My face is so close to his. I could lean over and press a kiss against his smooth jaw.

I won’t, though. That’d be inappropriate. It’d ruin everything.

However, the temptation is there, creeping all the way through my body.

I flip around to face him. Can’t be caught in that trap for too long.

Orlie’s hand settles on my waist once again, pulling me tighter to him this time, so tight that our bodies are nearly flush.Nearly.He has to remain professional too, after all.

“I hope having your boss at your sister’s wedding isn’t a buzzkill,” he murmurs. His breath lands against my face, smelling bittersweet like the scotch he was drinking.

Havingcould be a double entendre, but knowing Orlie and his direct nature, I know it’s not. Still though…to have Orlie Wynters. My head spins at the thought.

“Not at all,” I say. “As long as you don’t talk about how I looked in my dress to my coworkers.”

He screws his forehead together. “You’d be upset if I told them you looked beautiful?”

My eyes widen despite myself. Did Orlie Wynters really just call me beautiful?

Orlie half shrugs. “Suit yourself. I won’t say anything about how you looked tonight.” Then, he leans in toward my ear to say something. He hesitates, though.

His breath lands against my ear and my body tingles with goosebumps.

“I mean it, though. You look beautiful tonight.”

Be bold for once, Kira.

Fuck it. I press my body the rest of the way to his in thanks.

Our dance continues, except now I can feel all of him. And I meanallof him.

Either Orlie Wynters packs large or he’s hard for me.

I think I might prefer the latter.
