“Marginally.” She groaned. “I don’t want to move, Hunter. I think I’m addicted to your dick.”

“Well, I guess the good thing about my dick is that it travels with me everywhere.” I smirked, then laughed with her as she dissolved into a fit of giggles.

Posey stared at me for a second, then cleared her throat. “Personal question.”

“I might have an answer.”

“Are you... You have a piercing?” She glanced down the length of my body, her gaze causing goosebumps to form. “You know, in your penis.”

I chuckled. The absurdly comical, yet innocent way she asked about my Prince Albert was endearing. “Sometimes it’s easier to experience the ring than to say anything. What did you think?”

That cute little blush of hers creeped into her cheeks and darkened as she tipped her chin. “I really like it.”

“Good.”

An hour later, we were out of the apartment, and I returned the keys to Mack’s office with a note of thanks. As we walked back to my car, I didn’t want to end our time together. So, once we were situated, I turned to her. “Do you really want to go home?”

She tilted her head. “What did you have in mind?”

I shrugged. “I thought about taking Destiny toLucky Ladd Farm.”

Posey’s gaze softened. “That sounds like an amazing day. I’d be honored to join you for Destiny’s first petting zoo adventure.”

“Great,” I replied, my heart beating a million miles an hour. How I got so lucky and so damned, I’d never know. This thing... ThisBoomwasn’t for the weak. At some point, I’d have to come clean with the truth about Destiny’s parentage, but until then, I wanted to make every special memory I could. “I’ll call Ireland so she’ll have Destiny ready.”

“I kind of need to change first,” Posey said, humor lighting her words. “Can we stop by my apartment? I’ll run up and get changed.”

“How about you grab an overnight too while you’re at it?” The words were out of my mouth faster than I could say, “sure, that’d be great.” “If you want to, that is.”

“I want to,” she answered, then gave me directions to her place.

While she changed and gathered a few things, I called Ireland to let her know I was on the way to get Destiny. Of course, in true Ireland form, she had a billion questions. After our conversation at the shop, things between us were slightly less tense, but I could still see the judgement in her eyes when she looked at me.

I could admit, I was playing a dangerous game. The second Posey found out the truth, she’d walk away. The circumstances of us getting together were auspicious. By taking on Destiny as my child, I pulled the resources needed to find her biological family. However, if the text I received yesterday from the PI was any indication, Destiny would only end up being an orphan if I ever opened my mouth about not being her father.

By the time I ended the call, Posey had rejoined me. She never ceased to steal my breath. She replaced the wrap dress with a pair of ripped jeans and an off the shoulder crop top and pink tank. Her thick, spring-curly hair was pulled up in a messy bun that was neither messy nor impractical. Seeing her dressed comfortably sent a burst of warmth through me. I liked this Posey as much as professional Posey.

“Wow,” I said, “you look great.”

“Not too much?” She tugged at her shirt and glanced down at her Converse covered feet.

“Not even a little.” I tugged her into my arms and brushed my lips across hers. “You look edible.”

Her breath hitched. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” She stepped out of our embrace, then grabbed her bag and purse. “You ready?”

“Whenever you are.”

I was always ready.

Two hours later, we were following the map of the farm. While Posey collected the feed for the animals, I situated the small pack of wet wipes into the pocket of the carrier on my chest. One of the many things Ireland picked up for me was the baby carrier, or as I liked to call it, my wrench-buddy carrier, an item I thought was useless, only to be grateful I had one now. It allowed for Destiny to see everything and nap when she was tired, all while leaving my hands open.

“Let’s start with the goats,” Posey said. If I didn’t know any better, and I didn’t, it appeared she was just as excited to be there as the kids were.

“Sure,” I replied. “We can do that.”

“Thank you.” She readily took my hand in hers as we strolled along the trail leading to the pen. We fit there, just like any other couple or family. The refreshed sigh that escaped Posey had my heart fisting in my chest. She might be excited to be there, but this was also the first time I’d seen her so relaxed—without sex being part of the equation.
