“Oh, Sheldon.”

Just the image of her in my mind leaves me extremely aroused, but there is much to be done, even though I would rather stay on the phone with her for the entire flight. “I’m going to think about you coming all over your finger until I see you again,” I inform her, because if I didn’t know that I wanted Alexis not just for a night or two in my bed, but for longer, I certainly do now.

She sighs, and the picture of her nestled in my arms lying in my bed comes to mind.

“I have to get back to work. Get some sleep, Lex, and have a nice breakfast before you land. Careful with the coffee on board; it’s four times as strong as anything you drink in America.”

She laughs out loud, that soft, tinkling sound that I’ve come to enjoy hearing. “Yep, definitely bossy! Will it make you happy if I set my alarm for a full eight hours of sleep before eating breakfast and perhaps have some watered-down coffee?” Alexis asks, and I can still hear the haze in her voice.

“It will make me happy. Now, be sure you change out of the pink nightie that you’re going to put on tonight before you go for breakfast in the morning. I would hate the security team to see what now belongs to me,” I direct, disconnecting before her sassy little mouth has a chance to respond.

Chapter Eight

Alexis

I get off the bed, pulling the towel around me even tighter and hugging my arms while replaying his words repeatedly. “I would hate for the security team to see what now belongs to me.”

I spin around on my toes, once and then twice, and then three times, reaching out for the wall to steady myself on the last spin as I burst into laughter. He wants me for his own, and he wants me to wear the little pink nightie I saw in the suitcase. My towel drops to the floor in my haste to rummage through the suitcase and select the very one he requested. He said nightie, not nightwear, and this thing has two pieces, top and bottom. I pull the nightie over my head and adjust the delicate lace straps into place. It couldn’t be more perfect, well, except for these. I hold up the matching panties. To wear them or not to wear them, and how would he know unless I told him, or better yet. I reach for my phone and text a message to his phone.

Me: Panties? I don’t usually wear them to bed.

There, he wanted me to be truthful. I’ve told him how I feel about the panties; well, not in so many words, but if he really wants me to wear them… I don’t have to contemplate on it any longer because his response is almost immediate.

Sheldon: No panties, Lex.

I smile. He’s so serious, and bossy, and stalkerish, and hot, hot, hot! I do a quick happy dance shimmy and close the suitcase before pulling both of them to the floor, dragging the blankets to one side and crawling into the luxurious comfort of the bed that has my name on it, if only for the night.

I’ve set the alarm, but there is no way I’m getting to sleep right away. My body is thrumming with excitement, and I’m looking forward to seeing Sheldon again in exactly… I look at my phone and sigh. Still hours to go. I lay my head on the pillow and snuggle into the sumptuous comfort of what must surely be goose down, or something as opulent as that. I run my fingers over the softness of the nightie he’s chosen for me. The lace is delicate and soft against the satiny smoothness that caresses my skin. I imagine Sheldon’s fingers trailing down my skin, pushing it aside to caress my nipples and then gliding over it to head south. I groan softly as my phone beeps, and I glance at the message.

Sheldon: No more touching what belongs to me tonight. Sleep well, Lex.

I groan and turn, plunging to bury my smiling face into the pillow. An indescribable excitement and an electrical charge that won’t quiet fills me to the brim. The events on my first day trying to do normal has finally caught up to me, and the initial tossing and turning slows before I fall into a deep sleep, dreaming of a velvety voice giving me instructions as I kneel before him.

I barely comprehend the buzzing noise of my alarm clock in the morning. It doesn’t seem like eight hours could have passed already, but I glance at the time, and it surely has. I haven’t slept this well in ages, and my cheeks heat recalling the reason. I throw the covers off and head for the bathroom, jump in the shower, and am dried off and dressed in record time. Another five minutes for a light dusting of makeup before styling my hair, and I’m ready for the day.

I spin in the mirror, admiring the dress Sheldon had brought to the plane. It’s absolutely perfect for my first day in Italy. It’s short-sleeved and a shade of violet that almost matches my eyes. I hug it to me, wondering if Sheldon picked it out personally, or at least described the color to whoever he asked to purchase it. I slide into a pair of smart-looking, low-heeled boots and am just about to go for breakfast when my cell beeps.

I shouldn’t be this excited about a text, but I am, and I almost race to the other side of the room to grab it from the nightstand, half disappointed when I see it’s just a message from Allie. I plop on the bed to read it.

Allie: Hope all is well! Just getting off my shift. We had a ton of trauma. Staying at the hospital until psycho dude is caught.

In two seconds flat I have her on the phone, just needing to hear her voice to make sure she’s really okay. “What’s going on?”

“I’m fine, Lex. Nothing to worry about, really. Nick and the team that left with me have it all under control. I guess Sheldon told them to make sure I was protected from the guy who came onto you at the diner. I hate to admit it, but I’m really glad he did. Apparently, the guy figured out where we live and was on his way there.”

“Oh my God, Allie. I’m so sorry! You’re sure you’re, okay? Were you home?”

She laughs. “One question at a time! Seriously, I’m fine, and no, I wasn’t home. Nick wouldn’t quit badgering me before he left until I agreed to stay at the hospital, at least until things get resolved, so I caved. I really didn’t think psycho dude would be bold enough to come to the apartment, but he was. I’m so glad you’re out of the country right now. That guy clearly has his sights on you, and the fact that he found out where we live and was that close is frightening. Anyway, I’m glad I stayed at the hospital for a variety of reasons. It ended up being a crazy night. We worked well over our normal shifts, and I’m exhausted. I’m going to crash here, and hopefully they apprehend that Darwin guy soon.”

“What? Wait, I thought they got him when he came to the apartment.”

“Ugh! Nope, they didn’t grab him. I heard they wanted to follow him back to his place. My bets are on the security team getting this guy, though. Man, they don’t mess around,” Allie says, and my tough-as-nails best friend is not easily impressed. “Talk is cheap. Show me what you’re made of,” she always says.

“I hope they catch him soon. I’m really sorry that you have to sleep at the hospital. You want to come to Italy? Maybe Sheldon can find you a job as a nurse for someone.”

“Ha! I’ll go dream about that, and you go have some fun! Right now, I’m just exhausted, and I can hear the excitement in your voice from here. I’ll talk to you later. Love you.”

“Love you too. Get some sleep, and hopefully they’ll have it all figured out soon.” I disconnect and get ready for the day before heading to the makeshift kitchen that doubles as a bar area. The coffee smells amazing, and I pour some into a ceramic mug, add some hot water, and then rummage in the refrigerator for some cream to add to it.
