“It’s a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 super sport. It belongs to Chase, who owns quite a fleet of collectors,” Sheldon answers, shifting and gunning the engine as we head down the wrong side of the road toward the highway.

“I hate to throw this at you literally the moment you land, but some plans for the family have changed. I need someone to take care of Katarina’s hair and makeup when we first get back to their place,” Sheldon states.

I don’t know why the fact that he wants me to take care of Katarina disappoints me. I was really looking forward to it. In fact, I still am. It’s just that I was so excited to see Sheldon, to find out what he meant by being his, but I realize I’m here to do a job. Hell, I’m so confused, and I’ve been that way since the very day I laid eyes on this man. Maybe he flirts with everyone after phone sex. I don’t really believe the garbage running around in my mind, but still.

The car slows, and Sheldon drives us down a road and slight embankment before pulling off the pathway altogether and into a small clearing. He gets out of the car and walks around to my side, opens the door, and grasps my hand.

There’s a seriousness in his eyes. They aren’t lit with amusement but some indecipherable emotion. He walks with me a short distance, and my breath catches as we round the bend. The vivid blue-green of the Tyrrhenian Sea is spread out before us, encompassing the entire southern peninsula of the coast.

We are high above the shoreline, and the beautiful water seems to go on for miles in front of us. “Sheldon, it’s breathtaking. I’ve never seen anything quite so beautiful.” I’m taking in the whitecaps pounding the shore as wave after wave of blue-green water crashes onto the coastline far below us.

His hand snakes around my neck, and the warmth of his touch sends an electric shiver right down my spine and heats my center. I swallow, trying to regulate my breath as he lifts my chin with one index finger, bringing my gaze to his intense deep brown eyes.

“The Tyrrhenian Sea is captivating, but it doesn’t even compare to your beauty,” Sheldon growls, sending a surge of electric anticipation through me. He pulls me close, his shoes toe to toe with my own, strokes a finger down my cheek, and then grazes it over my lips. “Alexis, do you have any idea how alluring you are?” Sheldon asks, caressing my nape with his thumb and leaving a path of heat where his touch has trailed.

I already know he’s going to kiss me, and my heart is beating fast with anticipation. When his lips descend, my body is thrumming and my center is already moist, but as his lips capture mine, I’m not near ready for the overwhelming desire that blooms in my chest and pulses at my center.

Sheldon strokes my lips with his tongue, teasing until I part for him, and his warmth envelopes mine. His kiss is sensual, deep, exploring, and all-consuming. Sheldon pulls me closer to his body, his arousal evident as his arms tighten around me.

He wanted to see me again. The excitement bubbles from deep within and lands in my chest, making it hard to breathe at a normal rate. “You didn’t answer when I asked you if we’d see each other again,” I remind him breathlessly.

“I didn’t expect to feel this chemistry, this pull, but it’s there, always there, even when we’re not together,” Sheldon remarks, looking down at me. “Two things you should know, Lex. I didn’t bring you here just to get you away from the psycho,” he explains, strumming his finger along the seam of my lips.

I tilt my head to look at him, waiting for the other, but he doesn’t have to tell me because I accepted the job. He needs to make sure Katarina is taken care of, and I get that.

“No?” I ask on a breath.

“I brought you to Italy so I could see to it that you were taken care of personally. I could have hired a number of hairstylists right here in the community,” Sheldon states, gesturing over the hillside of homes that are embedded into the vast countryside overlooking the sea below. “I had you brought to me because the attraction we have for each other is magnetic, Lex, and once you fully understand the relational dynamic, and we’re as compatible as I believe us to be, I fully intend to make you mine.”

Chapter Nine

Sheldon

Alexis tilts her head, and those violet-blue eyes go wide as she looks at me between thick, natural lashes. I stroke her cheek, tracing my hand down the creamy column of her neck, trailing my finger until I find her pulse. Her heartbeat tells me how excited she is, saying what she can’t seem to find the words to say herself as she continues to gaze at me with those hazy, bedroom eyes.

She swallows gently, and her lips part in a smile. “You move pretty fast. Do you always skip the first date and jump right into ownership?” Alexis sasses, making her curls bounce.

I try to hold back the rumble in my chest, but it comes barreling forward anyway. Fuck this woman is adorable. “I don’t date, and you want to be mine, but before you agree, there are rules that we need to talk about over dinner tonight,” I say, unable to control a smile as her eyes dilate right before me. I press my lips against hers and gently trace them with my tongue. “Your lips taste so good, so sweet.”

Her lips part in the sweetest of ways, a silent agreement I think, but she surprises me and not much does. “Sure, our first date can be dinner this evening. We can discuss these rules, these things on your mind then,” Alexis says, nodding emphatically, her eyes flashing with mischief.

I try to control the lift of the corner of my lips. “So, what does this date entail, other than dinner and conversation?” I ask, letting her take the reins for a bit so I can see where she’s going with this.

“A first date should be memorable. You know, one of those things you look forward to before it happens and then always remember. I seem to have just acquired an amazing collection of fancy dresses and heels, so I’ll dress up.”

She nods as she speaks, and every time those damn curls bob, my dick throbs with the need to have her bobbing up and down on my lap. “Oh, and you never know when a first date may be so hot that you end up in nothing but the lingerie you have on underneath all those fancy clothes, so I’ll make sure I wear an incredibly sexy pair.”

Oh, she’ll end up in her lingerie all right.

I nod, taking in her exuberance. Round one goes to Lex, because I’m fucking dying for a first date with her, even though I don’t do dates, but round two is going to go to me because I’m the one in charge, not her.

I pull her close, enjoying the hitch of breath as she inhales sharply. “A first date it is, Lex, but the only panties you put on that tight little ass of yours tonight is the white G-string with the red bow. You know, it’s sort of romantic since we are going on our first date and all.”

She looks up at me, and her lips part as if waiting for a kiss, one that I want to give her, consume her with even, but my little submissive needs to learn about the pleasures of anticipation, and I want her extremely needy tonight. I grasp her nape, and instead of kissing her, I let my lips hover over hers. “All in good time, Lex.”

Her lips come together in the cutest of pouts, causing my cock to throb.

“We need to get back to the house. If you can take care of Katarina, I’ll take her to a meeting she needs to attend, and then we can have a late dinner. The date thing you talked about,” I say, winning me a perfect smile, an emphatic nod of her head, and shiny, bright eyes.
