BEN

When Michael came out of the bedroom carrying Tracy, it was all I could do not to rush over and touch some part of her. Her hair, her hand… Anything. My instinct to be near her was like a compulsion.

We’d made the mattresses into something resembling a nest. All the pillows in the cabin were piled on it, along with all the blankets we could find. The fire was burning warm and bright.

When Tracy looked over at our handiwork and smiled, I could breathe. It wasn’t perfect, but it would do.

Michael got her settled on the bed under a blanket, then signaled for us to follow him into the kitchen. After he put a tea kettle on to boil in silence, the three of us went into the pantry.

We spoke in hushed voices. Michael gave us thehighlights. He explained that Tracy was worried we wouldn’t want the real her.

“It’s the omega thing,” I said. “Like she feels split in two.”

Michael nodded. “Definitely don’t call heromega.”

Griff just listened, his expression stoic. That was his normal look. Always so serious.

“It’s not healthy.” I shook my head. Rejecting her own nature had to be tearing her apart.

Griff held up a hand. “We meet her where she is. We want her to know that she’s not just an omega to us.”

I sighed. “But we shouldn’t ignore the fact that she is one, either.”

Out of all of us, I was the one who knew her best. The one who knew her before learning about her designation. I could easily make the argument that I saw her for who she was, outside of being an omega.

And yet, it would be insincere not to acknowledge the way our biology was a fit. That was what scent matching was all about. Our bodies knew. Her body knew. That was why she was getting her heat, I was sure of it.

Michael paced in the tiny space. “Ben’s right. I’d like her to come out of this feeling better about being an omega.”

A quiet growl came from Griff. “When we knot her, she’s going to feel good about beingan omega.”

Shit. That was the most alpha thing he could possibly say. I couldn’t help chuckling. Maybe he had a point.

“Speaking of which,” I said. “You told her you hadn’t been with an omega before, so I assume you haven’t knotted anyone before?” Griff shook his head, and I turned to Michael. “What about you?”

“Nope.”

“I have.”

Michael blinked. “When did you…?”

“College. We knew we weren’t well matched, but we were both curious. It was nice, but I know this is going to be even better.”

None of us had shared before. That was more of a concern for me.

Griff was one step ahead. “You should go first. We’ll watch.”

Fuck.That was an image.

Michael was nodding. “You know, I thought for sure not biting her wouldn’t be a problem, but even talking about knotting her is making my teeth ache.”

We all mumbled in agreement. I already knew exactly where I wanted to put my bond mark. Still, we wouldn’t do it until she was ready.

I noticed that all of us were shifting and adjusting our pants. It was time to go take care of our omega.

“Let’s go see her. Oh, wait. Did you ask her about being rough? Hard limits?”

Michael shook his head. “Figured she wasn’tgoing to be into rough stuff, given what we know. But, like I said, she told me she likes dirty talk and being ordered around in bed.”
