I guess I must thank Jordan for everything that he’s done.

I can imagine staying over when he was supposed to be home, probably with his family or something. I do it all the time, but it's my sacrifice, completely different from him, who bargained for none of this.

This isn't Jordan's first time staying over, so I automatically know the room he's in. It's one of the guest rooms on the ground floor, so I make my way over, leaving Skylar with Marie.

I have no idea why I didn't think to knock; maybe it's because I never have, but that is my error.

I push open the door and look around. He's not here.

I walk over to the walk-in closet, which seems to be the next best place he'd be.

There I have the shock of my life. He seems preoccupied with something, but I don't care what it is. The only thing my mind zeros in on is one simple fact.

"Oh my gosh, you're naked!"

JORDAN

Idon’t make an instant move to cover myself up.

It's unnecessary.

If she's seen it all, what's there to cover?

Also, I do not judge her for not leaving immediately. In the same way, I need not cover up, she need not leave.

What I don’t appreciate, however, is when Rebecca’s face scrunches up in disapproval, and she folds her arms across her chest.

"Well, why don't you get some clothes on or something? We've been standing here way too long."

I give myself a once-over, like I didn’t know I was naked, and throw the exact confused look back to her.

"Umm, I’m sorry. I didn’t think…"

I blink and shake my head with a little disbelieving smile, thinking she'd understand my viewpoint.

She cuts me off before I even get my sentence out.

"You don't need to think. Put on some damn clothes. I need to talk to you," Rebecca commands me.

This is usually the part where I would bow my head and give a generic reply such as "Yes ma'am" or "all right" beforeproceeding to do her very bidding, but her daughter is the reason I’m naked in the first place.

If Skylar didn’t think it was hilarious to bathe the both of us in flour, I wouldn’t be in here waiting for my clothes to be rinsed and air-dried.

As it is, I took enough trouble with Skylar. Having her come to my personal space and demand things shift for her isn't going to cut it this time. I’m done with all that.

"Well, I don’t think there’s anything you want to say that me being naked is going to interrupt." I shrug and continue removing specks of flour from my jacket.

It’s the only thing I didn’t wash because it seemed unnecessary.

"Oh my god, Jordan, that is so lewd," she shakes her head in disapproval, but I have the perfect reply for that.

"Leave then."

Silence prevails in the room for a few seconds, and she doesn't leave.

At first, I wonder why, because that was the cue for her to salvage whatever awkwardness might have built up in the first place, but then again, I wave it off.
