As I pass my guys, Dragon swats my ass. I roll my eyes at him but can’t stop my grin. His grin is blinding, but I also see his face pinched in worry. Hopefully, after this week, he and the rest of the guys will learn not to pull shit like this again.

Ducking into the bathroom in the back of the interrogation room, Sasha and I quickly strip, putting all our clothes in the paper bag. I definitely got messier out of the two of us, but I get not wanting to take the chance that some of Sasha’s clothes could be saved. We don’t want anything traced back to us.

“Shit! It’s almost 4 pm. We gotta hurry,” Sasha says, and I glance up at the clock.

“Fuck. Hopefully, the other ladies are doing okay with the prep work.”

I hop into the shower without waiting for the water to warm up. Lathering up, I make sure to scrub every inch of my body. Then, because I’m paranoid, I do it again.

“Shit, I should have taken my hair out, out there,” I mutter as I begin taking out my bun. Poking my head out of the stall, I toss the hair ties in the bag before I begin the huge task of washing my hair.

My hair has always been hard to take care of and tame because it’s so thick and gets frizzy so easily. It seems like it takes forever before all the soap runs out of my hair.

Finally, when I think I’ve scrubbed everywhere and gotten everything out of my hair, I shut the water off and start drying off before getting dressed.

Running my fingers through my hair, I try to tame my locks and put it up in a messy bun as best as I can. I should really stock a few things down here to make things easier next time.

That thought causes my brain to stutter, unlike before. Why did that thought hit me harder than earlier?

Probably because you aren’t wrapped up in the moment anymore.

I look at my reflection, but it’s still the same ol’ me staring back.

Sighing, I rub my temples. Am I really okay with doing this for the club when needed?

I don’t even have to hesitate.

Absolutely.

They’re all my family and do what’s needed to keep them safe.

Sasha bumps my shoulder while she’s watching me.

“You okay?”

“Yeah.” Sighing again, I nod. “Yeah. I think I am. We got what we needed out of her. Hopefully, the guys found the bag before Fang and his minions planted the other cameras.”

I frown as I lean against the sink while she finishes getting ready.

“What did she mean by ‘going back to where it all started’?”

I gnaw on my lip as I try to think back to if I had ever seen Fang growing up, but nothing’s coming up. Did he mean back at college, since that was where we started going out? He can’t mean that run-down cabin they took Mom and me to before. Dad and Uncle Bear made sure it burned down to the ground.

Sasha picks up our bag of soiled clothes and I pushed those thoughts to the back of my mind for now. I could think about it later.

“Never mind. Let’s go give those to the guys and then help the girls finish supper,” I say, and can’t help the grin that forms.

Sasha smirks and winks at me as she opens the door. Hopefully, we can pull this off tonight before the guys realize what we’re planning.

“This is everything,” Sasha calls out as we walk the perimeter of the room. The guys moved enough plastic that we wouldn’t have to touch it. Nicole’s body has already been lowered down to the ground and it looks like the guys are cleaning the tools. I slip my engagement ring and cut back on, surprised when a feeling of calmness flows through me at having both of them back on.

“Just set it down on the plastic and we’ll take care of the rest.”

“In that case then, we’re going to go and finish helping prepare supper,” I say, but then Thor snags my wrist, pulling me close.

“Earlier, I was torn about whether or not we should ask if you’d be willing to do this. However, you’re never to sneak down here again without telling me first. That said, thank you.” He pauses as he looks me over and studies my face closely. “Now, how are you doing, Wildcat? Where’s your mind at on this?”

I exhale heavily. “Understood. Honestly, I think I’m okay. I haven’t had a lot of time to process it, but I really do think I’ll be good.” I pause, needing him to know the reasoning behind my actions. “I meant what I said earlier. If doing this when we have women suspects is what I need to do to help protect my family, then I’ll do it.”
