She pulls me back into another bone-crushing hug, and I can’t help it. I break down.

I could have lost both of them today. I could have gotten hurt or our babies. Fuck, if I lost any of them, I don’t know what I’d do.

A few hours later, we’re all still in the waiting room sitting on extremely uncomfortable chairs. I shift in my seat, which causes me to wince. Dammit, my ass is going numb from sitting here so much.

The police came shortly after we got here, so we all gave our statements. They’ll be back after Thor, Dragon, and Ethan are out of surgery and awake for their statements. After they left, Phoenix told me Reaper’s crew is heading down today instead of tomorrow. He called them after he got word of the shooting. They should be arriving in an hour or so.

Jax has been itching to look at the camera feeds to figure out who it was that shot at us, but I know he won’t do it here. Too many eyes and the chance that he’d be caught on camera hacking into any cameras in the area.

My gaze once again goes to the vending area off the waiting room and I finally cave. I need some caffeine. I know their coffee will probably be beyond horrible, so I settle for a coke.

Digging out my wallet, I pull out some cash and get my drink. Turning around, Dad’s leaning against the doorframe with a concerned look on his face.

“How’s my girl holding up?”

I shrug as I open the bottle and take a sip. “I’m trying not to go ballistic or crazy. I want updates, but they don’t have any yet. I want to cry. I want to target practice. I want to spar. I want to find whoever did this and make them pay.”

Knowing I can’t take out my anger here, or say anything incriminating, I take some deep breaths, then a few sips of my soda as I try to calm down. It won’t help anything if I lose my shit here.

Dad tugs me closer to him and wraps an arm around my shoulder, kissing my forehead.

“I’m sure you’ll get answers soon. Your new family will make sure of it. One way or another.”

He kisses my forehead again, and I nod, once again grateful that he doesn’t have an issue with me being engaged to two men and adding to the fact that they’re part of an MC.

Taking in my new family that’s scattered around the room as we wait for news, I have no doubt we’ll find out who’s behind this. In a way, I hope it’s Fang and Uncle Sean. If it’s someone else, that will seriously complicate things. Other than maybe Tiffany or Monica, I don’t know who it could be.

Behind me, a door opens, and I turn around. A nurse is walking down the hall toward us and her eyes widen at seeing the waiting room full of bikers.

“Family of Nick and Ryan Gilbert?”

“That’s us,” I say walking quickly to her. “I’m their fiancée.”

“To which one?” she asks, scrunching up her nose.

“Both of them.”

Her eyes widen with shock before morphing into a look of disgust.

Phoenix comes up to me and wraps an arm around my shoulders. “I’m Phoenix, their brother. And yes, she is with both of them. Now, can we get onto the more important topic of how my brothers and her Old Men are doing?”

I bite my tongue to keep from laughing, even though I want to lash out at her. It’s none of her business who I see.

She purses her lips and looks down her nose at us.

“They are both out of surgery and are in recovery. I’ll be able to take two people per patient back to see them. Once they wake up and are cleared, they’ll be taken upstairs for observation.”

Ryder and Smoke step forward to go with us.

“Give me one minute and I’ll take you back.” She pauses as she looks around the room. “Family of Ethan Mills?”

“We’re also his family. Here are his parents, Clint and Helen,” I state as they both rush up next to us. Helen clutches my hand and I give her a squeeze. I’ve always loved Ethan’s parents and I hate that he was hurt protecting me.

“How’s my boy?” she asks.

“He is also out of surgery and in recovery. Once he’s awake and cleared, he’ll also be taken upstairs for observation.”

“Oh, thank God,” Helen whispers as she leans into Clint’s embrace.
