“If my daughter and Luke trust you, so will I. You have my word.”

“Thank you. Wildcat has two stalkers after her, and one is her own uncle, who’s sold her to the other stalker.” Allison inhales sharply and goes to her dad, hugging him. He bends down and kisses the top of her head.

“Her uncle just got out of prison, today actually, for crimes he committed against Levi when she was six. I won’t go into detail about that, but on top of wanting her, he also blames her for being sent to jail for almost seventeen years. We’re trying to track the fuckers down, but this appointment couldn’t be missed, so we had to step outside of our compound. They must have been watching us, even though we didn’t notice a tail, because they knew where we were.”

“Either that or you have a rat.”

Fuck. I hadn’t mentioned that to anyone else, but to have someone else think that gives me pause. I didn’t think a patched member would betray us, but you never know. Same with Levi’s family. If one of them had, she’ll probably kill them outright. Either that, or Fang and his crew were able to put up more cameras, even though we confiscated the other bag. They didn’t need to know all of that, though.

“I’m not going to lie, but that has crossed my mind. Even more so after getting shot.”

Patch looks back at me, raising an eyebrow, but I’m not saying anything now. I’ll wait till there are no loose ears around.

The bathroom door opens, and Levi comes out, wiping more tears off her cheeks. Shit, she looks even more stressed than before.

“What’d Creed want, Wildcat?”

“First, to make sure we were all okay. I could vouch for you since you’re awake, but I haven’t been texted about the others yet, so they must not be awake yet. He had wanted to visit us tonight, along with Smoke and whoever else we deemed necessary, as they have some information for us. But because of the shooting, that’ll be postponed. He asked that we let him know when everyone will be released, and I agreed, saying I’d text him a time when we have it.”

I can tell by the set of her jaw that there’s more, but we’ll talk about that later, too.

“Levi, I’m very sorry about your situation, but there will be no issues with guards as long as they stay out of the way of our staff.”

A knock at the door has him pausing and we turn to see Smoke entering. He raises an eyebrow at me, and I motion him in.

“Smoke, this is Mr. Thatcher, Allison’s dad. Mr. Thatcher, this is Smoke, our tech guy as well as Levi’s brother.” They both shook hands.

“I hope I’m in time to ask something about the guard situation?”

“Yes, of course. I was just telling Luke and Thor that there would be no problems with guards. I’ll talk to the appropriate people and you’ll be fine as long as you stay out of our staff’s way.”

“That is partially my concern, sir.”

“How so?”

“Well, I think we may have another problem. Sir, I just witnessed a situation that suggests you have some rats. I need the names of each of your nurses or doctors that will be treating my brothers so I can run a quick check on them.”

“Fuck,” Levi hisses and her gaze locks with mine. She gives me a subtle nod. If she’s saying what I thinking, fuck is right. This is not good. Not good at all.

I’m so fucking pissed right now, I can hardly see straight. Someone I’ve trusted for years appears to have betrayed me. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I need to first ask Smoke to verify the phone records.

Not only that, but Creed gave me pictures of two women who work in this hospital who have been seen with Fang around town recently.

Now I’m even more worried about my men and my friend while we’re in the hospital. Why the fuck can’t we catch a fucking break?

Refusing to focus on that right now, I clear my throat.

“Mr. Thatcher, how many people are normally allowed to stay overnight?”

“Usually just one person per patient unless there’s a child involved.”

I nod and try to plot who I want as backup here and at the compound.

“Now, Smoke, was it? What do you mean, I may have some rats of my own?” Mr. Thatcher asks.

“First off, Ethan did wake up about ten minutes ago and would like to see you when you’re able to, Levi. He just wants to put eyes on you for himself to see that you’re safe.” He gives me a look that makes me question if he knows what I now know.

Smoke pulls out his laptop and brings up two pictures. They’re the same ones Creed sent me which means he must have also warned Smoke. Or something else triggered Smoke’s screenings.
