"As you wish. Can I take a look at your wound before I go?"

Laughing, Frankie lifted her shirt. "What wound?"

Bridget shook her head. "Incredible. You’ve healed as fast as an immortal. Are you sure you don't want me to test you?"

Frankie shrugged. "It's the venom. I'm sure of that. Dagor and I managed to sneak in a little afternoon delight, so the latest injection is still in full force. Even if the cut heals faster than it should, it will be because of that."

"You are the boss of your own body, and you decide when and where." Bridget rose to her feet and took her bag. "I'll see you at the wedding tonight."

"Yes. And this time, you'll see me dancing the night away."

"I'm looking forward to it."

After the doctor left, Frankie sat down on the couch and reached for the remote, but instead of flipping through channels, her mind engaged in flipping through thoughts.

Perhaps she could run a little test by herself?

It wouldn't tell her anything because it was true that she just had a fresh injection of venom, and that would screw with the results, but she was curious, and she was never good with patiently waiting for things.

Padding to the kitchenette, she pulled a sharp knife out of the drawer and pricked the tip of her pointer finger.

"Ouch. That hurt." She put the finger in her mouth and licked the little drop of blood that had welled over it.

That wasn't going to tell her anything.

She pulled the finger out and watched as another drop of blood welled over the tiny wound she'd inflicted.

Well, so much for fast healing. It didn't seem to stop bleeding any faster than usual. The only difference was that it didn't hurt as it normally would.

Less than a minute later, it stopped bleeding, and it took another five minutes for it to disappear completely.

It wasn't the instantaneous healing of an immortal, but it was definitely faster than humans.

A wave of dizziness washed over her, and she pressed her hand to her forehead. "It's the venom. That's all. There is no way I'm transitioning."

But what if she was?

She needed to talk to Dagor, but he was in the middle of weapons practice and couldn't be disturbed.

She needed to talk to someone. Mia. She could call Mia.

Grabbing her phone, Frankie called her friend. "Hi, Mia, are you busy?"

"Not at all. Toven is with Kian, and I'm just doodling on my tablet. What's up?"

"Can you come over right now? You can continue doodling here, and then I will do your makeup, and you'll do my hair."

Mia chuckled. "It's still too early for that. I can come for a little bit and return later when it's time to start getting ready."

Frankie didn't want to inconvenience her friend. "Perhaps we can just talk on the phone. I don't want you to have to come here twice."

She could go to Mia's cabin, but Mia hadn't invited her, and she wasn't going to suggest it.

"Yeah, that will probably be better. Bridget gave me a lecture today about not resting enough. So, what did you want to talk about?"

Frankie chuckled. "Actually, it has to do with Bridget."
