Dagor pushed his pants down, revealing how excited he was about her offer of gratitude even before finding out what she had in mind.

"I did it for me as much as I did it for you." He stepped into the tub and got behind her back. "I want you with me forever."

Dagor

Morning light filtered through the parted curtains, casting a soft glow across the bed and the woman sleeping peacefully beside Dagor.

He'd been awake for a while, watching Frankie. Most of the time she seemed peaceful, with a faint smile on her lips, but from time to time a frown furrowed her forehead, and she stirred in her sleep.

Was she having bad dreams?

"Good morning," she murmured, her eyes fluttering open as she turned to face him. "What time is it?"

"It's still early." He leaned to plant a soft kiss on her lips. ""How are you feeling?"

"Good." Her smile widened. "In fact, I feel wonderful." She wound her arms around his neck and drew him closer. "You gave me a lot of yourself last night."

He chuckled. "Yeah, I did."

He'd given her his blood once, his venom twice, and his seed four times. If that wasn't enough to induce her transition, he didn't know what else he could do other than keep doing that every night until it happened.

"When do you need to leave? Do we have time to have breakfast together?"

He glanced at his watch. "I have a little over an hour."

"That's plenty of time." She stretched her arms over her head. "Let's eat in the cabin. I'm too stressed and worried to make small talk with people in the dining room. I want you all to myself."

He'd had other ideas about spending the morning, but Frankie seemed to need reassurances, and the best way to do it was to give her more information about the mission. The worst thing would be to leave her guessing.

"We both need to shower." He kissed the tip of her nose. "The rigorous activities of last night have left their mark."

"You go first." She yawned. "I want a few minutes longer in bed."

After a quick shower, he got dressed and started on the coffee. By the time it was brewed, Frankie emerged from the bedroom wearing a loose T-shirt and a pair of shorts that were almost indecent.

"I hope you don't intend on wearing that out of the cabin while I'm gone."

Smirking, she tilted her head. "Why? I'm much more covered in this than I am in my bikini. Are you telling me that you don't approve of me going swimming while you're away, either?"

Dagor had a feeling that he should tread carefully or find himself in trouble. "Of course, I don't mind you swimming in your skimpy bikini. It's just that those shorts are too sexy because they tickle the imagination, and I want you to wear them just for me."

"Good save." She sat down on the chair he pulled out for her. "But for future reference, the only types of comments I'm willing to accept in regard to my attire are how good I look in it."

"Noted." He poured them both coffee and handed her a cup. "You look very sexy in those shorts."

"Thank you. I appreciate the compliment."

"The bottoms of your ass cheeks peek from underneath the frayed hem, and all I can think about is nibbling on them. I bet the same thought will cross the mind of every unmated guy who sees you, and there aren't that many mated immortals on this ship."

She rolled her eyes. "Fine. I won't send you off to battle worrying about my ass being on display. I didn't plan on wearing them outside the cabin anyway." She lifted her chin. "This is my staying-inside lounging outfit. I like to dress more elegantly in company."

That was a relief for more reasons than one. The most important was that Frankie wouldn't be tempting all the other single males with her sweet bottom peeking from the too-short shorts, and the other one was that she felt comfortable enough with him to slouch.

Dagor pulled out a box of crackers from the cabinet and a tray of assorted cheeses from the fridge. "Is this good enough for breakfast?"

She shrugged. "If it's good enough for you, it's good enough for me. I'm not the one heading out to battle and needing good nutrition to fuel my body."

"That's not true." He put the items on the table and went back to get plates. "You are about to fight the most intense battle of your life. Your transition."
