Page 107 of Never Mine to Hold

Hayes claps me on the shoulder and nods to the girls who are still shaking their titties like their lives depend on it. “Looks like someone’s getting lucky tonight.”

“Nah. But you go for it.”

He gives them a considering look before flashing a grin. “I just might do that.”

It takes roughly twenty minutes to remove my pads and another ten to shower and get dressed. By the time I head out of the locker room, I’m one of the last stragglers. I push out through the metal door and into the hallway, intent on finding Fallyn.

Now that she’s back in my life, I hate being without her. Even though I knew she was sitting in the stands, watching every move I made, it wasn’t enough. I’m hoping it’ll just take a couple weeks or maybe even a month to chill out, but deep down I know that’s not going to happen. How can it when I’ve spent the past five years feeling like a vital piece of myself was missing?

The first time she slid inside my Mustang, I knew I’d found the reason for my existence. The purpose for drawing air into my lungs. It’s an odd, unsettled feeling to realize that your heart no longer beats within your own chest but is buried deep inside someone else’s.

I don’t step more than a foot into the corridor before grounding to a halt. The tension filling my muscles dissolves when I find Fallyn leaning against the wall, waiting for me.

Without a word, I drop the athletic bag to the floor and eat up the distance between us with three long legged strides before dragging her into my arms where she belongs. My lips crash onto hers, devouring them with all the pent-up hunger that swirls through me. As soon as she opens, my tongue delves inside her mouth to tangle with her own. The emotion rushing through my veins is almost too much for the confines of my skin. Any moment, I’ll come undone at the seams.

That’s exactly what this girl does to me.

Tears me apart before putting me back together again.

My hands cup the sides of her head to hold her in place as I pull away and search her eyes.

“Missed you, angel.”

“I missed you too,” she says with a husky laugh. “Congrats on the game. You were amazing out there. Nothing got past you.”

I rest my forehead against hers. “I was amazing because you were there, wearing my jersey, cheering me on. I always played better when you were in the stands watching.”

I press my lips against hers. “Everyone’s heading over to Slap Shotz to celebrate. Any interest in going? Or would you rather head home?” I waggle my brows. “We could always chill out and watch a movie.”

She snorts. “Why do I get the feeling that we would never get around to the movie portion of the evening?”

“Because even after all these years, you still know me.”

“I do.” Her expression sobers. “Just like you know me.”

“I’ve always known you, Fallyn. Even when you wanted nothing to do with me.”

She buries her face against my chest as I wrap my arms around her and hold her tight. It’s the closest my heart will ever come to being inside my body again.

She raises her face before stretching up onto the tips of her toes and pressing her lips to mine. “We should probably make an appearance at the bar, or everyone will wonder what happened to you.”

“I don’t give a shit about that.”

“I know.” Her lips lift into a smile. “Then we can take off and I’ll congratulate you in private.”

I raise a brow, warming to the idea. “Exactly what would that entail?”

“Whatever you want,” she says with a smile.

“Hmm, I can think of a couple things that would keep you busy for quite a while. And then maybe you can sit on my face again because I fucking love having your pussy hovering over my mouth.”

Heat floods her cheeks as she groans and buries her face against my chest. “Stop.”

“Never,” I say with a chuckle.

Instead of scooping her up in my arms and carrying her home, I reluctantly take a step in retreat and pick up my athletic duffle. Then I throw an arm around her shoulders and haul her against me.

It’s exactly where she belongs.
