“Yeah, I will.” My fingers grip the handle as I jerk it open and slip from the Jeep. “Thanks again for the ride. I appreciate it.”

“Anytime.”

As soon as the door closes with a resounding thud, she takes off and I hustle inside the bar like the hounds of hell are nipping at my heels.

Well…maybe just one hound.

Chapter 28

Wolf

With a frown, I stare at the apartment building. There’s no sight of Fallyn. Then I glance at my phone for the umpteenth time. Every text message I’ve sent within the last fifteen minutes has gone unanswered.

Her phone is either dead or…

She’s ignoring me.

After yesterday’s shocking reveal at the hotel, I probably should have expected her to go into avoidance mode. For fuck’s sake, after the uncomfortable ride home, I’d slipped my fingers beneath her chin and forced her to meet my gaze before she could bolt from the vehicle.

Then I told her not to bother trying to avoid me.

Just as I’m about to head inside the apartment building, Viola’s white jeep pulls into the parking lot. When she exits the vehicle alone, I realize that she probably dropped Fallyn off at work.

Son of a bitch.

After she disappears inside the lobby, I roar out of the lot and head to Slap Shotz. I make it there in less than ten minutes before parking and stalking inside. It’s still early in the evening and there aren’t many customers.

The moment I walk through the door, my gaze slides around the space until it lands on Fallyn’s dark head. Only then does everything settle inside me.

“Hey, Westerville,” Gerry says, greeting me with a fist bump.

“What’s up?”

“Not much.” He cracks his neck one way and then the other. “Unfortunately.”

I snort.

“I suppose you’re here to see your girl?”

My gaze flickers to him. “Yup.”

A small smile slides across his face. “Figured that was the case.”

Her long ponytail swings behind her as she stops at a table of dudes. That’s all it takes for jealousy to spiral through me as I cut a path directly to her. Her laughter drifts in the air before scampering down my spine.

“So, what can I get for you guys?” she asks, her tone sounding shades lighter than I’m used to hearing. “Another pitcher? A round of shots?”

“We’ll do a shot if you?—”

Just as my fingers wrap around her bicep, she glances my way. Her eyes widen when she sees me.

“Wolf,” she says with a gulp. The barest hint of a tremor threads its way through her voice.

“Don’t look so shocked, angel. My guess is that you were expecting me.”

Before she can say anything else or these guys can decide to involve themselves in our business, I steer her away from the table and into the dark hallway where the bathrooms are located. We turn the corner near Sully’s office until we’re tucked away from prying eyes. I force her spine against the wall before caging her in.

With our faces inches apart, I search her wide blue eyes.
