He continued to stroke her skin, his hot breath caressing her collarbone. After a moment he peeled himself from her and headed for the bathroom. The sudden absence of his heat sent a chill over her skin.

“God, I’m starving. Stay here,” he said. “I’m going to go for a quick run. I’ll be right back with some food. An hour, tops.”

“That wasn’t enough exercise for you? I must try harder.”

“If you try any harder, I’ll never be able to walk again.”

That smile.A girl could get used to that smile.

“Just wait here. Don’t move.”

She gave a half-hearted salute. “Roger that.”

He winked as he reappeared clad in workout clothes and backed out the door.

Hope threw her spent body on the bed to wait. After sixty minutes, she wondered if he’d changed his mind. Five minutes after that, the rattle of a doorknob told her she had worried needlessly. In stepped the hulking Aussie drenched in sweat, a walking fitness magazine cover.

“I bought supplies.”

His beam blindsided her. She watched him, breathless as he unloaded a bag from a health food shop and tossed her a salad wrap. He took the lid off what looked like a smoothie, sank down on the bed beside her, and gulped it down.

He picked up his phone and was about to take a photo of his drink when he seemed to think better of it.

“Were you about to Instagram that?” Hope asked.

“No! Yes. Sorry, force of habit. I’ve kept off it for a few days. Been busy.” He leaned over and licked her shoulder.

“I’m sure your thirty-seven followers are heartbroken at not seeing your abs for a few days.”

“Heh, close. Six hundred and eight.”

“Oh, I was waaaay off then.”

“Thousand.”

“Huh?”

“Six hundred and eight thousand followers.”

“What? No way.”

Xavier smiled and pulled up the account. There it was, right next to a photo of a torso she knew intimately, Xavier West, Pro Lifesaver, 609,675 followers.

Hope shook her head in disbelief. “Six hundred and eight, sorry, six hundred and ninethousandfollowers want to know what you’re snacking on? That’s almost the entire population of Australia, isn’t it? Xavier, just how famous are you?”

“A bit. I’ve had a few wins in my time. That’s why I’ve got to make sure I’m not slacking off. A lot of people are depending on me. Know what I mean?”

Having someone depend on her was not something she wanted to think about. Instead, she tugged on the waistband of his shorts.

“I can think of an excellent way to maintain that heart rate of yours.”

He sniffed his shirt. “I should probably shower first.”

Hope shook her head.No. She leaned down to lick his apparently famous abs. Salty, manly, hers. “Let’s do some things that would get you banned from Instagram for life.”

Who is this wanton woman? Her libido told her to be quiet, and a slow smile spread over her face. She didn’t even have to ask if this was how a good fuckbuddy would act. She did exactly what she wanted. That moment she wantedhim.

She could get used to the new her, no matter how temporary it would be. She was blindfolded on this rollercoaster ride, never sure what the next turn would bring. That was the point of this little adventure, wasn’t it?
