He holds out his hand and says "I'm Alexander Blackwood. You can call me Alex though. You must be my new neighbor?" I grin, take his hand in mine, and shake it a little too enthusiastically. His skin is warm, and his grip is firm.

"Gabriella - Gabi," I say smiling. "I am really sorry though. I just was not paying enough attention. I have so much on my mind with the move."

"Your boyfriend isn't helping you?" He is still smiling, and I can't stop looking at his lips.

"Um, no. Just me." Why can't I look away from him?

"Well, welcome to the neighborhood. It's really nice to meet you, Gabi. Are you rushing off to work or?"

I laugh nervously. "No, I took the day off today to try and sort out all of my boxes. I'm just running to the store real quick."

He doesn't say anything for a while, and I feel an awkward silence. I want to fill the gap with more chatter, not quite ready for this conversation to end. I like looking at him, I like the way he speaks, and his eyes are mesmerizing. "Where are you off to?" I ask trying to keep our talk going for a little bit longer.

"Going to grab some dinner for us. Have a nice day, Gabi."

And just like that, our conversation is over. I guess he isn't one for too much small talk then or maybe he is just busy.

I smile. "Let me move my car out of your way. Sorry again - about that - um - have an awesome day, Alex. See you around."

He nods and climbs back into his car. "See you around, Gabi."

I hop into my car as quickly as I can, wanting to move out of his way and not cause any more inconvenience for him. I pull back into my driveway and then wave as he drives off, but he does not look up and I feel a little foolish waving like a kid.

I roll up my window, turn my air conditioner on, and head out. Time to find a new bikini and then have a nice cold swim. Then I have a lot to do still before the day is done.

CHAPTER 2

ALEX

Iam almost all the way back out of my driveway when I look back and realize that my neighbor is coming out of her driveway as well. She does not seem to be slowing down and there is no way for me to get out of the way fast enough. I give a quick, polite honk to let her know I am here, on the road. She slams on the brakes. Then a moment later, my gorgeous new neighbor hops out of her car, in a hurry. She looks horrified and rushes over to my car window repeating over and over again how sorry she is. She is fumbling with her words, and I find myself smiling as I watch her. Her curly dark hair is falling around her shoulders, and her dark brown eyes are full of concern. She has thick, long, dark lashes and full, sexy lips and I can't seem to keep my eyes off her.

She is talking full speed and I laugh at her awkwardness.

"It's ok. Hey, breathe. It's ok." I say with a chuckle in my voice.

I get out of my car. Standing next to her I can how petite she is, but she clearly works out. My eyes run up and down her body. She has a sexy definition which I can see clearly through her tight gym pants and cropped shirt.

I hold out my hand to her and she looks up at me with those warm, chocolate-brown eyes. "I'm Alexander - Alex. You must be my new neighbor?" I say.

She reaches out to take my hand and shakes it. Her skin is so soft.

"Gabriella - Gabi." She smiles. "I am really sorry though. I just was not paying enough attention. I have so much on my mind with the move."

I wonder if she is married, if she has kids, or a boyfriend. I haven't seen another car, but then again, I have not been paying that much attention apart from watching her a few times from my window. I have been so busy. This is my first time bumping into her properly, almost literally. I smile again. I can't seem to help it. She keeps staring into my eyes and I feel like she might see straight through me. She might know I have been admiring her figure and her beautiful face from across the street. She might even know the thoughts I have been having about her - offering to help her carry a box inside her house and then once inside - pressing her body against mine and kissing her full lips.

Curiosity gets the better of me and I ask, "Your boyfriend isn't helping you?"

"Um, no. Just me." She says.

I like that answer. I am happy to hear that she doesn't have a boyfriend.

I am lost in thought for a second. I shouldn't be worried about whether or not she has a boyfriend. My life is too busy to be thinking about things like that. I nod, still in my head with thoughts.

"Well, welcome to the neighborhood. It is really nice to meet you, Gabi. Are you rushing off to work or?" I trail off. I am terrible at these types of conversations, the ones that seem to be completely pointless.

Gabi giggles and the sound pulls me in and makes me smile again.

"No. I took the day off today to try and sort out all of my boxes. I'm just running to the mall real quick."
