“Did you get my message?” I ask, still softly playing.

“I did get your message,” she says, her eyes glued to mine as she stalks closer to the piano. “I got it loud and clear.”

She leans over the piano, her full breasts heave above her neckline. I reach and draw across them with my fingertip. I flash her a sultry look.

“I thought you knew,” I continued casually. “It’s really stupid to build an office park here. Best surf spot around.”

“A hidden gem,” she adds, resting her chin on her hands. She looks at me with puppy dog eyes.

“So, gee,” she says. “Where have I heard this before? That it makes no sense to build offices here?”

“Okay, I said it before; I’ll say it again. I admit Todd’s a smart guy. I’m thinking of making him a partner.”

“What else did Todd tell you?” she asks me somberly.

“I don’t know,” I say. “I haven’t listened to or read all my messages. Brody and I spent all day yesterday dissolving the partnership.”

She perks up, waiting for me to clarify.

“She’s out,” I say, arching my brow.

“Out?” she asks, her eyes big and round.

“Yes,” I say, brushing her nose with my finger, “Adrianne is no longer a part of our lives. Out. History. Adios. Buh Bye. So long.”

I switched up to play the ominous notes from the famous shark movie before rising from the piano and sweeping her into my arms. I hustle her to the couch in the parlor and rest her on my lap.

“I heard what she did to you – but that is not the only reason why I cut her out of the business. I don’t think I want to be in the redevelopment business anymore – or at least not how I was doing it. I have enough money. I’ll still do some stuff. But I no longer want to ruin people's lives to make money.”

“So, what are you going to do?” she asks.

“I think resort area, here we come,” I say. “I’d like to make the inn a vital element of the plan, but it’s your inn, and it’s up to you if you want to contribute it. “Brody filed temporary restraining orders against Adrianne for you and me. You have to sign yours, or it isn’t enforceable. She doesn’t know that.”

“When did all this occur, and how come she was able to evict me?” she asks.

“I stormed that courtroom and said, wait! Stop!” I explain, fixated on her beautiful mouth. I lift her and lay her back on the couch. I loom above her.

“I’ll explain all the details in a minute,” I say. “But I have to do something important first.”

“Really?” she asks, her face even more beautiful with the worry of losing the inn gone.

“Yeah,” I rasp. “Really. I just want to tell you-”

She presses her fingers to my lips and shushes me.

“Later,” she says.

Brynne spreads and lifts her legs so that I am nestled in between. She wraps me with them while she works on the buttons of my dress shirt.

“I am not going to have to put one of these on for a long time,” I murmur. “Do you have any ideas on how to repurpose ties? I have close to one hundred of them. Maybe more.”

“Is that why you’re doing this?” she whispers and winks.

“That and so I can surf with Todd,” I tease.

Brynne play smacks me on my shoulder. I sit up again and strip with lightning speed. Then, I embark on a mission to take her clothes off until we are both completely naked. My mouth seeks hers, hungrily kissing her. I moan against her lips.

“I missed you,” I murmur mindlessly. “I don’t want to be apart from you again.”
