With a deep breath, I turned and headed outside the room.

*********

I paused outside the suite Ella had taken and waited. I looked around to see if anyone else was around and knocked.

There was no answer. I tried again, this time a little harder.

“Who’s there?” Ella’s voice shouted from the inside.

I refused to reply because if I did, she would never open the door. Instead, I knocked again.

“Mom, if that’s you, I told you I do not want to speak with you, or anybody else. Can’t you guys respect my wish for once in this Godforsaken place?”

I ignored her rants and continued knocking.

“I swear to God, Mom.”

I chuckled slightly and continued. I heard loud thumping footsteps from the inside and knew she was coming close to the door. I stepped back a bit and waited.

She cursed, opened the door, and stood shocked when she saw me. Her face immediately moved to contempt.

“Hello, beloved sister.”

Ella cursed more and tried to close the door quickly, but I was faster. I quickly blocked it with my foot. “Leave me alone,” She cried as she continued forcing the door closed.

“I just want to talk.”

“Good for you. I don’t want to talk to you, or anyone for that matter. Go talk to your baby mama, otherwise known as my ex-best friend.” She shouted.

“Don’t speak about Lucy like that.” I rebuked her, frowning.

She sighed and continued to force the door closed, “Oh, now you care? Have you ever cared that much about me before? Get away from me, Mason, and please leave me alone.”

“Not until we speak.”

“We have done all the speaking we need.”

“No, we haven’t, not at all,” I stated, holding the door firmly while hoping she eased her hold.

“I am going to call the cops.”

“Okay, Ella, you do that, and see where it gets you. We are still in our city, remember?”

“Your city, not ours.” She increased her might on the door.

“Fucking hell, how did you get so strong?”

I muttered and increased my push to make an entrance.

A few seconds later, I finally opened the door. “Why do you need to be so difficult? I am trying to talk to you about what happened.”

Ella glared at me and frowned, “Spare me the details, please.” She then tried to run out of the room, but I caught her at the right time, held her by the waist, and lifted her.

“Get your hands off me.” Ella cried as she scratched and hit my arms furiously.

“I just want to talk,” I replied, moving blindly to the bed, and pushing her there.

Ella tried to stand again, but I pushed her down. “Just fucking sit down.”
