He nodded in agreement. “Right, you haven’t, but you have said that you want a man that takes the reins and handles the heavy stuff, so you don’t have to.”

“Okay.” Becky’s agreement held caution in her tone. “But that doesn’t mean I’m a Little. Lots of grown women want that. I don’t want to go to a different age in my head. I just want to be taken care of at my own age.”

“Right. So, when I said that I was taking over, in previous times, you were good with that, it fit your needs, and you have even asked for that a few times when I didn’t do it quickly enough.” She nodded. “And you like to watch the younger movies—”

“And lots of others.”

“Yes, okay. But when we watch action movies, you close your eyes and sometimes cover your ears.”

“So.” Becky scrunched her face as though she was trying to make sense of what he was saying, but Carter watched her begin to fidget.

“So, you at least have Little tendencies. That means you like when I take over, you even crave it.”

“Not all the time.”

Carter kept his smile locked down tight. “No, not all the time, but you do want there to be rules, boundaries, and guidelines, and me to enforce those. It’s what you have been missing since I have backed away and lived the vanilla lifestyle with you. I’ve missed it too.”

Becky didn’t say anything, but her thighs squeezed together tightly. “That’s what I call my pampered headspace because you are pampering me. Every woman likes pampering. And your point is?”

“My point, Little girl, is that you have pretty strong tendencies, and you want those things I do for you. You want me to be your Dom, so you don’t get to pick and choose when that is. Your safety and all health concerns come under the Daddy heading, and I intend to do my best to meet those responsibilities. I made a mistake by letting other things get in the way, but I’ve learned my lesson, and that little hiatus is the only one we will have.”

Carter resettled Becky in his lap with both of them extending their legs on the sofa, her peanut butter and honey sandwich in her hand, having finished her soup. He kissed the top of her head.

“I’m sorry about the rules, baby, but I have to know you are safe.”

“I know, but I’m careful already.”

“Baby, this isn’t because you aren’t. I have to make provisions for whoever did this last night. Like watching outfor the other drivers because they are an unknown entity, not because you don’t drive well.”

“I get it. But I’m not a Little. I just like when you Daddy me... mostly.”

She reached for her cup of milk, and Carter passed it over. It had a sippy cup top, so he didn’t worry about her dropping it on herself. She was tired. Becky wasn’t one to drink out of cups designated for adult Littles, but she enjoyed the water bottles you sucked from the top. He liked that she liked them.

“I’m too old for a sippy cup. How embarrassing.”

“You’re never too old, and this is a regular-sized cup. I like that I don’t worry about you spilling on accident. Saves you, me, and the sofa. It’s really just like the water bottle you use at work.”

“I know, but it’s a water bottle that millions use, not a big cup with a sippy lid.”

“Duly noted. I’ll grab a couple more sippy water bottles.”

“You don’t want to let me win on this, do you?” she asked wryly.

Carter smiled. “Not when it’s the same thing, and you are doing what you always do when I’m trying to set down rules, you find a way to make your passive-aggressive side win. It is like your sippy cup, but you want to be the boss, so you want to drink from the water bottle, but the same mechanism is in place.” His voice deepened to get his point across. “Don’t make this a habit, or I’ll take full control.”

“Like?”

“I’ll hold the cup while you drink from it. Or I could be even more controlling.”

“No, nope, I’m good. I’d love to drink from the sippy water bottles. Absolutely delighted to.” She sucked on the tip of the lid as though it was just fine with her.

Carter chuckled. “Good choice.” He patted her thigh. “But there’s more. I don’t want you to be alone. Not in the house, not coming or going to work, not in the store, yoga, nowhere.”

“What? No, that won’t work. Carter, I have a life and work. I enjoy being alone sometimes. I need it to recharge.”

“Hear me out. It isn’t as bad as it sounds.”

“No, it’s worse than it sounds. I have to put a limit on some things.”
