As the team members gathered their equipment, Ryker could feel the tension in the room. Each person knew the stakes of this mission, and the potential consequences if they failed. Mark, who was in charge of this mission, turned to face them, his expression serious.

“Listen up,” he said, his voice firm. “I know we’re all worried about Oakley, but we need to stay focused. She’s being forcibly given medication that’s causing her to experience psychosis and hallucinations. She will be unpredictable.”

Ryker added, “And if we don’t get her out of there soon, her condition could worsen–” his voice caught for a moment, “–or even become fatal.”

Jac spoke. The gravity of the situation evident in his eyes. “And if we don’t do this right, Oakley could be further harmed, and Audra might escape. I’m not losing operatives on this because we were ill-prepared. Study the schematics, familiarize yourself with where the van will be, our vehicles, and escapes, you know the drill. Success is the only acceptable outcome.”

“Remember,” Jac continued, connecting with each team member’s gaze, “we’re Oakley’s lifeline. She’s depending on us. We can’t afford any mistakes.”

The room was filled with silent nods as they absorbed his words. Mark took one last look at the assembled group, their faces filled with determination and resolve. With a nod, he signaled that it was time to move out.

Arriving at the fencedarea, they waited for Sharlee to give them the go-ahead.

“Stay low and keep to the shadows,” Mark instructed, leading the march as they carefully picked their way through the obstacles. “The last thing we want is for them to see us coming.”

“Once we’re inside,” Callie whispered, “we have to make sure Oakley stays protected. She might not even understand what’s happening, and she could panic or try to escape.”

“Understood,” Ryker replied, his ever-present determination burning bright within him. They were so close to rescuing Oakley, and nothing would stand in their way. Bravo team split off to find the back exit.

The operatives divided into their teams and took the entrances assigned to them. There were three main entrances, and with the added men, they could cover all easily.

“Let’s do this,” said Levi. Those around him nodded their agreement. The drone went up, so they knew the security for the building was neutralized.

“Heat signatures are eight. One is separated off to the far eastern corner of the building. Not moving. Supine. Best guess, it’s Oakley.”

“One guard by the entrance,” Mark whispered into his headset, his voice barely audible as the team huddled together behind a row of bushes. “Armed with a semi-automatic.”

“Same at the back,” confirmed Garrett.

“Any other points of entry?” Levi asked, scanning the perimeter for alternative options.

Sharlee’s voice rang clear in the earpieces. “Go! Go! Go!

The night was overcast, a thick blanket of clouds obscuring the moon as Ryker and the team neared Audra’s hideout. The darkness enveloped their approach, providing some cover as they crept forward with cautious determination. Ryker clenched his jaw in anticipation, his heart pounding like a relentless drum in his chest.
