What was he saying? People who get attached too fast, too soon, also get un-attached equally as quickly. But I didn’t have the opportunity to think more deeply about that because Oliver was already nibbling his way back to my lips, and I lost myself again.

Oliver shook his head and strode to the bathroom to splash some water on his face and pee. I watched without shame, even though it should’ve been weird, but after what we’d experienced, it seemed natural.
Which, in itself, was weird.
He washed his hands and returned to the bed, climbing in next to me. “How do you feel about cuddling after epic sex?” he asked.
“I’m down with it,” I said with a grin, and he opened his arms so I could settle into the cove of his shoulder. I loved the way he smelled, even after hot monkey sex. If someone were to walk into my room right now, the pheromones in the air would probably knock them on their ass, but it smelled like heaven to me.
Or maybe it was just Oliver that made me feel that way.
Roger’s smell had always wrinkled my nose.
“A professor once shared that human beings, for all their advanced brainpower, are still just animals at their core,” I said, tracing my finger along his ribcage and dancing along the edge of his areola. “Maybe that’s why we drive each other crazy. The animal in me speaks to the animal in you.”
“Makes sense to me.”
I sighed, happy to lay there next to Oliver and forget the world. Except the world downstairs was loud, reminding me that a full-blown raging party was happening beneath us.
“How long are you in town?” I asked.
“Two weeks.”
“Hmmm…just long enough to have some fun without getting too serious,” I said.
“Is that how the rebound relationship works?” he teased. “Are you just going to use me for my dick?”
“Yes,” I said without hesitation, causing him to laugh. “I mean, gotta be honest, you’ve got that kind of dick energy that makes women lose brain cells.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” he said. “But the same could be said about you.”
I laughed flattered. “Okay, you’re pretty fucking amazing. If you’re open to it, I’m down to enjoying each other’s company for the next two weeks. Strictly on a rebound, just a hook-up basis. I’m not expecting anything more.”
He rested his arm behind his head in a relaxed pose. “Does this include traditional dating activities or just sex?”
I stopped to consider his question. “I feel if we do other things, like go to dinner and stuff like that, feelings could get involved.”
“Which we don’t want,” he finished for me with an adorable grin that I couldn’t trust. “What if I brought over food? Does that count? Sustenance is important to keep up our energy.”
