Page 6 of Just A Hook Up

Once they were gone, I curled into the oversized chair by the living room window and wondered if Jaymee was right.

I didn’t say anything, but I’d heard through the grapevine that Roger and the barista were dating.

Facebook Official, even.

Gag me.

It didn’t sting the way it used to. The knowledge was more of a pinch than anything else, but it did make me wonder how I’d been so easy to replace.

Roger wasn’t losing any sleep over losing me, but I’d spent countless nights crying in my pillow over the loss of something that’d never been real.

Maybe Jaymee was right. It was time to start dipping my toe into the dating waters again. Nothing serious, just to have a little fun. It felt like forever since I’d flirted with someone.

I kind of missed it.

Sex felt like a distant memory.

I definitely missed that.

I’m not even sure if I remembered what went where at this point.

I mentally went through my closet for possible costume ideas. When Roger and I were together, I’d always dressed as something goofy, like an inflatable T-Rex suit, but if I was going to venture into the single life with a fresh mindset, I wanted to do it with flair.

Something sexy.

Something daring.

Something a little…slutty.

Go big or go home, I suppose.

And Roger…go fuck yourself.
