I released a burst of air from my lungs on a laugh. “You have to stop being so amazing. I’m not emotionally stable, and you deserve more than being the rebound boy toy.”
“Tell me about your ex,” he said.
“For real? It’s not that great of a story, and it doesn’t flatter me. It’s embarrassing.”
“Can I be honest?”

He held my gaze. “I only came to this party because I heard you were going to be here.”

I lifted my gaze to his. “And what do you think of me?”
