I nod because I know and wholeheartedly agree.

“You’re not married?” he asks again.

I shake my head, and in the next moment, he’s striding for me. His hand shoots to the back of my head, tangling in my hair as he wrenches me to him. I jump in surprise, not expecting him to move so fast. His forehead presses against mine, and emotion claws up my throat as I gaze into his gorgeous irises.

“Thank fuck,” he growls just before his lips land on mine. The kiss is sweltering, to the point I wrap my arms around his neck and hold on as he devours me. I whimper in response, never having been kissed like this in my entire life. My heart hammers away in my chest so strongly he must be able to feel it, but I can’t find it in me to care about anything other than the feeling of him pressed against me like he’ll die if he lets me go.

His free hand grabs my ass, pulling me to him, coaxing me up his body. I don’t hesitate as he pushes me back against the wall, partially lifting while grinding his pelvis between my thighs. I wrap my legs around his waist, wanting nothing more than to feel him inside me again. We kiss like this until my lips tingle and the skin around my mouth is tender from his whiskers.

He eventually pulls back enough to tuck his face into my neck, his warm breath with each exhale giving me fuzzy tingles all over. “As much as I wanna kiss you all day, I can’t.”

“Yes, you can.” I immediately argue.

Blow chuckles, pressing a soft kiss to my throat. “I need to run to the store for some basic items. I checked the generator, and it has enough gas in it for me to start it and get the refrigerator going. I usually use an ice chest when I visit, but we’ll need some real food aside from crackers and jerky if we end up here for more than a few days.”

“You think they’ll find us that fast?”

“Once my prez realizes I’m gone and not coming back, it won’t take him long to figure out where I’d go.”

“Shit. I need to get to a phone so I can check in with the department and ask for some backup. I’m sure there’s a safe house we can go to also.”

“Hell no. I’m not going into any bullshit protection program. You have any idea how easy it is to find people when you know how to look?”

“It shouldn’t be easy for you or your club at all.”

His brow shoots up. “Spice. They’d find us faster at a safe house than they would here.”

“If that’s the case, then it’s fucking terrifying, and I’m going to die no matter what I do.”

“I’ll keep you safe.”

“I must be delusional because, for some reason, I believe you.”

“Good, you should. Earlier...” He starts but trails off as I shake my head.

“It’s okay.”

“No, it’s not. I was an ass. Same as yesterday. The thought of you sleeping with me and being married had me torn up inside.”

“I didn’t know bikers were so against infidelity.”

He shoots me a glare. “Some of us aren’t, but finding it out hit differently. I don’t want you to have a man, Spice.”

“Why not?”

“Because you’re supposed to be mine.”

I soften at the conviction I hear in his voice. He truly believes what he’s saying, and it’s making me want the same thing. I must be insane to even consider being with someone like him. A criminal. Yet, everything about him feels right, and when I touch him? Electric.

“We have to get through this alive before we worry about being anything to each other,” I softly reason eventually.

He nods. “You’re right. I’m going to head to a little store about ten minutes down the road. Stay inside the cabin while I’m gone. It should be too soon for my brothers to show up, but just in case someone other than me happens to roll up outside, I want you to go to the storage room. There is enough room for you to squeeze behind the freezer. It’s not on, so you’ll have to be really quiet. There’s a latch in the wall with a four-foot by four-foot square cut into the wall. You flip the latch, and it’ll open to the back of the cabin. It’s what I use to bring wood into the storage room. He may not be alone, so someone could see you. Try to run into the woods and climb a tree. Don’t hide on the ground and don’t leave tracks under the tree you pick.”

“I’ll be careful.”

“I mean it. Angel is good at what he does. Finding people is second nature to him, not only that, but we all hunt, so he knows how to track. I need you safe long enough for me to show up and make some shit up to get him to leave.”

“My job is dangerous. I can handle this, I promise. Hurry up and get some food, bring tortillas and eggs, please. I want burritos.”
