“I’m her husband.” I hear Lincoln say from the kitchen as I round the corner from the hallway. I come to a standstill, stomach dropping and mouth falling open in shock. Blow is the last person I expect to see standing in my kitchen. How in the hell did he find me?

“B-Blow?” I say, my voice barely above a whisper.

“Did you get pookie to finally fall asleep?” Lincoln asks, then says to Blow, “Our daughter fights me on naps but doesn’t bat an eye when Syd does it.” He smiles, shaking his head, and my stomach twists.

“Linc, will you give us a minute?”

“Fine, but we’re both law enforcement, I can handle myself around case info and not say shit to anyone,” he says it teasingly with a wink, and it takes everything in me to muster up a grin in return. He doesn’t realize that Blow doesn’t actually work with me. Usually he’s not so careless about saying we’re law enforcement in front of people he doesn’t know, but he’s completely missed the mark this time.

As soon as he’s gone, I hiss, “How did you find me?”

“Well, Syd,” he emphasizes the nickname Lincoln calls me by. “When you splash your face all over the cameras, a search performed by the right person can pull up anything with a clear enough shot of a person’s face.”

Blanching, my fingers go to my temples. I didn’t see any cameras or I would’ve been more careful. Rubbing my temples, I mutter, “You can’t be here. We can’t do this here.”

“Don’t want me in front of your husband? I wonder why?” he growls, irritation burning in his irises. He’s already jealous and we only had one night together.

“Fuck, it’s not that easy, okay?”

“Bullshit, and you better be thanking me for coming here.”

“Why the hell would I do that?”

“Because I have information you need to know. I can’t believe this shit, and I’m so fucking angry at you right now,” he admits, making me feel like shit for being discovered. Sure, I was doing my job, but there’s something about Blow I truly like and it’s confusing.

“Hurry up,” I hiss. “Lincoln will come back in here in a minute!”

“God forbid your husband finds out you were getting thoroughly fucked by another man last night. Bet you still feel my cock between those thighs of yours.”

“Shh! I’m sorry, okay? Christ.”

“Not okay, but that’s beside the point. I came here to confront your ass, but that was before I got another fucking surprise and walked in on Suzy Homemaker. You have a kid? A kid? How could you put yourself in danger like this?”

I clench my eyes closed for a minute before releasing a tense breath and asking, “Why did you come here?”

“Again, I came to confront you, but shit has changed now that I know you have a kid. How old?”

“She’s just turned two, but we’re not discussing her.”

He whistles low. “And you’re already out on the job, busting bad guys and breaking hearts.” I roll my eyes, as my job is none of his business. “My club knows who you are, and they’ve sent someone after you. They could be here anytime.”

“Shit. I’ll make sure and be armed.”

He chuckles darkly. “Nah, you won’t be able to stop him, and your family won’t be safe either. You fucked up and came after the wrong club, Spice.”

“I can protect us.”

“Doubtful.”

“Then what do you suggest?”

“You may have a chance if your husband splits with your kid since the club doesn’t have their information. Yet. You’ll need to come with me so I can keep you safe.”

“Convenient. How do I know this isn’t a trap for me to come willingly to your club? You’ll what, torture me and dispose of my body to never be found? I know your MC’s track record.”

“Well, for starters, we won’t be going back to my club. You’ll know that by the first turn I make when we leave here, and if I go towards the club, you can take off when I stop at a stop sign.”

“You’ll shoot me.”
