''Never mind,'' he says.

We enter the restaurant after I locked the car. I spot Marie smiling when she sees Maxim. He ignores her and asks the hostess––to my surprise–– that he wants to place a to-go order.

She ushers us to the bar, where Marie rushes over with a quizzical stare aimed in our direction.

"Forgot something," she asks coyly.

After a short pause, Maxim orders. "I want a cheese pizza with garlic rolls and a bottle of white wine, the sweetest you have on hand."

Maria looks over at me disapprovingly. "You should have taken the pizza on the table with you."

"It was cold, and I'm sure Elena likes her food hot, and so do I."

"Oh, I…"

"It's alright, Marie, and by the way, this is Elena." He grabs my hand, lacing his fingers through mine, and little flutters snake up my hand.

She rings us up, and Maxim hands her the cash. "I'm sorry. I didn't know," she says.

Didn't know what? I’m confused.

After we walk out with the delicious-smelling pizza, making my stomach growl and mouth water, I say, "You didn't have to do that…and what did she mean by she didn't know."

He ignores my question and opens the front passenger door. "Get in,celosa," he teases.

My nostrils flare, and I get in. "I'm not…" He shuts the door, cutting me off, walks around, and gets in. “Jealous,” I finish.

He fires up the car and backs out of the parking lot. "Where are you taking me?"

"You'll see."

He pulls onto the thirty-mile stretch called "Road to Nowhere." and pulls over. People come out here to stargaze. It's a couples spot I've heard about. The rain has stopped, bringing in the cooler air. The clouds have cleared, and the stars are high in the sky.

He opens the lift-gate and gets out, taking the food and wine. "Come on. I'm starving."

After we lay the seats flat in the back of my car, I take a slice and close my eyes, savoring the cheesy goodness, while he opens the wine and takes a sip.

"I can't drink that," I say between bites.

"Why not?"

"I'm nineteen, not twenty-one."

"So… I'm not going to call the cops on you or anything," he says with a smile. He holds the bottle out to me. "Here, live a little."

I take the bottle and take a sip, savoring the sweet wine. "It's good."

"I know."

"Who's driving?"

He shrugs. "I'll call one of the guys to come get us. Eat up."

We eat and drink until we finish the wine. We lay out side by side, staring out at the sky through the moon roof.

"Have you ever been in love, Maxim?"

I don't know why I asked him that. It must be the wine making me have a loose tongue.
