"I'm sorry," she says again.

"It's not your fault. It's mine. I'm the one that did it. I'm the one who didn't know how to deal with the love I felt for someone who couldn't give me what I wanted. Sometimes we don't get what we want, Mom. We can make people do things because we want them to."

"Are you sure you’re, okay?"

"I'm sure. I'm fine. I'm going on a date with an amazing guy and a friend who is trying to undo what he has done. I'm fine, but please keep this between us?"

"Alright. I will. I’ll be checking up on you."

“Okay.”

I give her a hug, and my phone buzzes in the pocket of my jacket.

Maxim: I'm here.

I walk outside and am surprised to see Maxim looking handsome in a long-sleeved black dress shirt, dark jeans with designer sneakers leaning on the passenger side of a white SF90 Ferrari.

"You pulled out all the stops, huh?" I tease.

He's gorgeous. His black hair is combed to the side, and the first button of his dress shirt is undone, giving me a glimpse of the crown tattoo on his neck.

"Yes, I am. You look stunning,Princessa."

"Why, thank you, kind sir."

He opens the door, and I'm giddy with excitement. I walk up to him, and he gives me a peck on my lips. "Good evening, Miss. Sincere."

"Good evening, Mr. Cortez. You look very handsome."

I slide in and look around the car. I didn't know Maxim was this extra.

"Nice car."

I bought it last year. I wanted something sexy," he says with a smile.

"It is Sexy. I bet you drive all the girls crazy with this thing."

"I've never taken a girl out in it before. It is not something you drive around in the east of Hillside."

"Oh."

"You're the first, Elena."

"This is the first time I had a guy pick me up at my house to go on a date."

"I'm flattered."

"Liar."

"I am," he says with a laugh.

"Where are you taking me?"

"Somewhere familiar."

To my surprise, he pulls into his parent's driveway.

"Your parent's house?"
