I wondered if they had sleeping pods in this office, which was one of the things I immensely enjoyed about my previous job's office. For a few moments, I got lost in that until the phone on my desk began to ring, startling me. I immediately picked up when I saw that it was the boss himself.

"We'll leave in a few minutes," he said. "You're not going to bring the slides over for me to take a look at?"

"I sent it to your email, sir," I said, and to my surprise, he hung up on me. Once again, I was irritated by his sassy behavior, and in defiance, I remained seated for a few minutes longer as I sent Sophie a message informing her of his attitude.

Me: Is he usually this much of a diva?

Sophie: He isn't. He's probably just a bit upset because of all the looming deadlines and activities for the week.

Me: So he can't handle stress? He's a billionaire and he can't handle stress?

Sophie: I don't know what the problem is, maybe it's you and the fact that you keep forgetting things and making his life harder.

Me: You mean me or you?

Sophie: Scarlett, focus. It's almost 11 a.m. Have you called Michael?

At her words, a gong seemed to strike against my head.

Me: Who?

Sophie: Holy shit! The driver. You didn't inform him beforehand to come and pick you up? You have to leave soon!

Me: What did you save him as?

Sophie: Michael.

I found the number and placed my office phone against my ear to continue messaging Sophie.

Me: What's there to be worried about? Isn't he his driver? Shouldn't he be available at all times?

Sophie: Yes, but during the day, he runs errands all over the city, so if journeys aren't scheduled, he might not be available.

The phone began to ring, and then he picked up. The moment I heard the noise and honking of vehicles in the background, however, I had a very eerie suspicion that I had made a mistake.

"Hello, Michael, this is Scar-" I quickly corrected myself. "This is Sophie speaking. We have to leave for the Carlis Hotel in about fifteen minutes. Where will you be waiting?"

"Fifteen minutes?" He exclaimed, and I nearly pulled the phone away from my ear, wondering what the problem was and why he was shouting.

"Yes," I replied.

"I'm in Brooklyn right now," he said, and panic began to set in.

"Why are you in Brooklyn?"

"I had no clue you had a panel this morning with the boss," he said. "He mentioned it earlier when I dropped him off, and I thought you'd call immediately to clarify with me, but you never did. So I went over to Brooklyn to complete the task you gave me earlier. I'm still in his tailor's shop. They'll have his new suits ready soon."

"Holy shit," I cursed under my breath.

We were both silent for a moment as the magnitude of what was about to happen overwhelmed me. Eventually, though, and from experience, I was able to calm down to ask the right questions.

"Is there any possibility at all that you could get back here within the next fifteen minutes?"

"No, it's almost lunch hour, and the traffic is horrendous."

"Right,' I said. "Thanks."

I hung up the phone and instantly shot to my feet.
