Now, to find the lipstick to match…

Thirty minutes later, I look perfect.

I pick up my gun and put it in my small purse. I don’t go anywhere without it. I dusted and arranged my apartment all day, and I am happy with the result.

I was initially unsure on giving a stranger access to my home, but the more I thought about it, the more comfortable I felt about bringing him back here for our one-night stand than going to his place.

Because that is exactly what tonight is about.

Just sex.

As if he read my mind, I hear the knock on my door. No one else knows about this place so I know it is him, but I still check my peep hole, just in case. I come face to face with his beautiful brown hair. I take a deep breath before swinging the door open.

“Right on time,” I tell him.

I feel a zing go through me as he peruses my outfit before swallowing. “Wow! Warn a man before you try to kill him.”

The corner of my mouth lifts. “Can we go?”

“Wait a minute, let me appreciate this.” As he drinks me in, I do the same. Tonight he is wearing an all-black ensemble. His coat is well fitted to his broad shoulders, and his black shirt is opened at the collar to show his throat. I want to sink my teeth there. His dress pants are well molded to his strong thighs and his black loafers look expensive as hell.

“I take it you like what you are seeing?” he mocks me.

“Yes.” I slide my hand up his chest before grasping his lapel, “Maybe we can skip dinner?” My voice is low and sultry. “We can order in.”

His hand slides up my arm causing me to shiver. I lean in closer.

“I already made reservations, bella,”and then he takes a step back. “We better not be late.”

I blink once in confusion.

“Seriously?”

He shoots me a wide grin that makes my inner muscles clench, “Dinner, right?”

Well, fuck me.

I pick up my bag from the table in the entrance, and then stand before him. “Dinner.”

His hand brushes across my back as he leads me down the hallway into the elevator and then to the parking lot.

He opens the passenger’s seat for me and once I am settled in, he gets into the car and starts it. “Ready?”

No.“Yes.”

He reverses and leaves the parking lot. I send Sophie my live location as an extra precaution.

He has been driving in silence for about three minutes before he turns his attention to me, “You know Rachel, you have the prettiest eyes I have ever seen.”

“Excuse me?”

“Eyes. You know…”He signals his eyes.

I smirk at him, “Seriously! Does that usually work?”

He grins at me as he maneuvers his way through a roundabout, “Does what really work?”

“The flattery. You are laying it really thick.”
