“Alright,” I nod at him and he takes the stairs to my quarter. He is allergic to garlic.

I strut to the kitchen but stand by the entrance, not wanting to spook them. My mother, Evelyn, and Rosaline are all sitting with their backs to the entrance, picking something from a single tray.

Seeing my mother back from the clinic and her old self again has been a highlight for me these past few days. Knowing Evelyn is taking care of the house as always has been calming for me. Waking up every morning to Rosaline in my arms has been liberating for me.

It's the best thing to see and feel. The sight of the most important women in your life together in harmony.

I will do anything for this family I have been given, despite my despicable personality.

I intentionally dull out their words and zone in on their body language. The way their body vibrates as they laugh. How slackened their shoulders look from relaxation. The way they swing their hands making their points and gossiping about… me.

I zone back to reality when I hear my name from my mother.

“I want three,” my mother slaps the kitchen island playfully.

“I say we make them give us five,” Evelyn jumps in.

“Five?” Rosaline laughs, “I can't carry five and besides, we are not even an item yet.”

“Item?” My mother scoffs, “young people and all the unnecessary rules for love,” she shakes her head. “What other item do you want to become, aside from this?”

“A wash tray maybe,” Evelyn laughs.

“That's not funny,” Rosaline clips but laughs too.

They're talking about Rosaline and I having a family.

I have to do something about this and do it fast.

I turn and take the stairs pondering over their discussion as I head for my quarter.

I stop in front of my bedroom.

Knowing what I'm about to do is both exciting and scary, but scary in a good way. I have this thrill that's washing through me, making me want to get it done in the instance.

“I need your help, Orazio,” I stomp inside my bedroom and plop on my bed.

“Get lost,” He sits up from his lying position on the couch and scowls at me, “I don't feel good,” he winces.

“The garlic.” I'm not asking but he nods.

I stand and walk into my bathroom to quickly pluck out his pills for his allergic reactions in the drawer and then come back to toss the container at him, “Take two,” I walk to the refrigeratorand get a bottle of water for him. I open the water and hand it to him.

“You still have these?” He opens the container and takes two pills, then sips some of the water.

I hold back from answering his question because I don't want him to make stupid annoying jokes with my answer. I have his pills everywhere around me. In my bathroom, my father’s study, and my car. I put some in the kitchen too. He takes care of everyone but himself, it's normal for me to make sure he is taken care of.

“What do you need my help with?” He sits straighter now.

“It's about Rosaline.”

He blinks, and then smiles, “We are finally doing it? When is she leaving?”

“Orazio…” I grit. “Get serious this time,” I glare at him, “I just heard my mother and Evelyn talking about us making babies.”

“No way I would let anyone tie me down with an exclusive relationship when I have pussies yet to be explored.”

“Manwhore, stay with me here.”
