I balled my fists at my sides. There had to be a way to stop him.

“He can’t see you, Sloane, and you can’t touch him.”

I snapped my attention to the right. Sawyer stood in the corner with his head down.

“Sawyer.” I marched toward him. “You have to do something. Stop this.”

He looked up at me, his eyes pained. “I can’t.”

I grasped his arm and shook him. He was real, solid, and warm beneath my fingers. How could this be? It didn’t matter. Not right now. We had to help Lincoln.

“Sweetheart,” he said hoarsely. “I’m not here either. Lincoln is the only one who can see us. I can’t stop Mikey.”

My heart dropped. I turned back to Lincoln. “He’s here facing punishment all by himself.”

My fingers shook as I covered my mouth.

Sawyer hugged me from behind. “I know it’s hard, but Lincoln is strong, and us being here, even as hard as it is, gives him strength. He knows that we’re safe.”

“What’s going to happen to him?” I turned away and buried my face in Sawyer’s shoulder.

Mikey got in Lincoln’s face, screaming. His words were muffled, but there was no mistaking his anger.

“I’ve convinced my dad we need him alive. Lincoln knows things that no one else does. It makes him valuable.”

Lincoln cried out. I pivoted to look, but Sawyer stopped me, spinning me so I could only see him instead. “You don’t want to look, sweetheart.”

“Can’t we do something? Anything?” Tears trickled down my cheeks.

Sawyer swiped them away. “I’m doing everything I can.” He tucked a finger under my chin and lifted it up. “It’s not Lincoln I’m afraid for. It’s you.”

“Me? I’m home. Safe.” Was I really safe though?

I felt safe under my own roof, but we both knew I wasn’t. Not really. I’m sure the Delidos and the Hamptons had felt safe, too.

Sawyer cupped both of my cheeks. “Sloane, we are coming there. Right now. Lincoln bought you some time, sending us out of the way. You have about five hours. Enough time to pack up and leave. Get everyone out of there.”

I drew in a deep breath. Alpha Dane was coming. He would slaughter us all. The weight was back on my chest, making it hard to breathe.

Sawyer pressed a tender kiss to my lips. “Get out of there, Sloane.”

The fog dissipated. A roaring sound filled my ears.

I shot up in bed, gasping for breath and darting my gaze around my room. It was dark out now. How long had I been asleep?

My mind replayed Sawyer’s words. They were coming.

I shoved the comforter back and scrambled out of bed.

My feet thudded across the hardwood as I ran for the door and threw it open. Voices filtered up the stairs. It might be dark, but it was still early enough for everyone to be awake. My parents would be too.

I hurried down the stairs, taking them two at a time. I landed on the bottom floor, dashed to my dad’s office, and threw the door open without knocking.

He wasn’t alone. All eyes were on me. I looked around at the occupants. My mom, Mark, Jacob Delido, and Willa’s brother, Ian.

I let out a deep breath and shut the door behind me as I entered. “The Wolf Blood Pack is coming.”

My mom patted the spot on the couch next to her. “Come sit, sweetheart.”
