“Yeah, time reallyhasbeen flying by,” I say thoughtfully, then what he’s said sinks in. “Did you just say you want to spend more time with me?”

“I did.”

“Dom, since I’ve been here. I’ve hardly even seenyou. You’re not here when I wake up, you’re not here when I go to bed. Do you even live here?”

“Of course, I live here.”

I laugh, “Are you sure? I was starting to think maybe you had a secret family that no one knew about.”

“The club is my family. How does someone pull off having asecretfamily?”

“It’s not really that farfetched. I once read a story about a door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman who had three different families in three different cities.”

Dom puts his meaty paw on me and guides me to the stove, “While you’re telling that story, you can make us lunch.”

I duck under his arm and go to the fridge, “He was able to pull it off because it was back in the 50’s before cellphones and GPS and stuff like that. He travelled all the time for work, so that was his reason for not being at home most of the year.”

“I can’t imagine why anyone would want to do that.Onefamily is more than enough.”

“I know, right!” I look through what’s in the fridge, then realize he’s going to pick something that endangers his heart. So I start with that option, “Cheeseburger?”

“Let’s try one of your fancy city-girl healthy options.”

I think I look shocked, because his response is to laugh. “Okay, we can do that. An omelet with mushrooms, peppers and onions?”

“Sounds good,” Dom seats himself while I get busy.

“So,” I throw him a carrot. “Where do you go that you’re never around?”

“I ride,” he munches. “We have interests in surrounding counties. Mostly I just like being out on the open road, sleeping under the stars. That kind of thing.”

“That’s even more mysterious than the secret families!”

“Well, you can come with me on the next one and see what all the fuss is about.”

I smile, “That sounds like it might be fun.”

“You’re going to have to learn how to ride though. I can’t take youandsupplies for both of us on one bike.”

“Are you going to teach me?”

“I am.”

“Ooh!”

“You’re a prospect in an MC, it wouldn’t make much sense if you didn’t know how to ride, Lara.”

“Point taken.”

The way Dom looks at me makes me tingle downstairs. I wonder if I’m pushing thisfree loveconcept I’ve been riding a little too far.

He probably looks at me like a kid though. He’s twenty-years older than me. That’s a hell of a stretch.

“What?”

I realize I’ve been staring, “Oh, nothing.” I turn back to the eggs and hope to God that I haven’t turned red.
