I nodded, grateful for his perspective.

"Thank you. I appreciate your advice." I gave him a peck on his cheek, feeling genuinely relieved, but the fact that I wasn’t sincere tugged at my heart.

He put an arm around my shoulder, guiding me forward.

"Anytime. You know I've got your back. And who knows, maybe this will turn into something great.”

"Yeah, who knows," I replied, my mind wandering to Alexander.

As we continued walking, I felt a renewed sense of hope. Allan's words reminded me that sometimes we must let go of our fears and doubts and follow our hearts.

The night seemed full of possibilities, and I couldn't help but feel excited about what the future might hold.

Allan glanced at me with a playful grin.

"So, scandalous secret dates, huh? You've been holding out on me."

I laughed, feeling guilty.

"I promise not to keep you in the dark for long. I’ll tell you everything in due time."

He gave me a weird look.

"Good. Now, let's get you home before midnight, Cinderella."

Chapter Eight

Alexander

Iwoke up to laughter filtering through the quiet morning air. A soft smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I lay in bed, wondering who could be making my usually composed maids, and Hilda burst into laughter at such an early hour.

Curiosity got the better of me, and I swung my legs over the edge of the bed.

Shirtless and clad only in my pajama pants, I descended the stairs. The laughter grew louder, mingling with Allan's animated voice.

I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. What on earth was he up to this time?

I rounded the corner, entering the living room with amusement and bewilderment painted across my features.

There he was, my younger brother, the eternal troublemaker, sitting comfortably on the couch, captivating Hilda and the other maids with some dramatic tale, most likely made up.

Allan's eyes lit up when he saw me.

"Ah, the man of the house finally graces us with his presence!" he exclaimed, his voice dripping with fake admiration.

I chuckled, shaking my head.

"What are you doing, Allan? And why are you bothering my staff this morning?"

Allan's grin widened.

"Oh, Alex, you wouldn't believe the adventure I had last night. I narrowly escaped a herd of wild raccoons in the park. Those creatures are more cunning than you'd think!”

Hilda's eyes sparkled with delight as she exchanged a knowing glance with her fellow maid.

"Mr. Hartman, your brother, has an incredible talent for storytelling."

I chuckled again, unable to deny that Allan and his storytelling skills had always been a force to be reckoned with.
