The excitement of visiting somewhere new blended with curiosity as I wondered why Alexander would want to bring me there.

When we finally arrived, I stepped out of the car, grateful for my choice of comfortable loafers.

Amelia, Alexander's assistant, was waiting for me, expressing professionalism and welcomingness. She led me into the building, past the lobby, to the group of elevators. As we went inside, she pressed the button for the 30thfloor, and we quickly ascended.

When we reached the top floor, I took a moment to adjust my jacket and take a breath.

I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building within me. We approached a group of contractors huddled in a meeting, their voices lowered in discussion.

At the center of the group stood Alexander Hartman, tall, lean frame dressed in a navy blue suit that exuded authority. His dark hair was impeccably styled, and his piercing blue eyes focused intently on the discussion.

As Amelia and I approached, Alexander's gaze shifted to me, and his face broke into a warm, welcoming smile.

"Elizabeth, you made it," he said, his voice carrying a hint of excitement.

I returned his smile, my heart rate increasing.

"Of course, Alexander. You didn't give me much choice when you sent David early this morning," I replied, my tone as playful as possible.

He chuckled. "I had a feeling you wouldn't mind. I wanted you to see this project we've been working on.”

The contractors parted, allowing us to step closer to the center of their discussion.

Then, I noticed the floor-to-ceiling windows that offered breathtaking views of the city below. The unfinished space was bathed in natural light, and the potential for this apartment complex was undeniable.

Our eyes locked, and he immediately wrapped up the meeting, instructing the contractors and Amelia to head downstairs.

The room quickly cleared, leaving only the two of us surrounded by the sweeping views of the city.

I approached him cautiously, my thoughts still haunted by the memories of our last encounter.

"Before you say anything, this won't be like last time," I said firmly, determination in my voice.

A smirk tugged at the corners of his lips, those lips that I’d found so irresistibly kissable.

"Sure," he replied, his tone teasing and confident.

His response caught me off guard, and I felt a familiar warmth spread through me. Our last encounter had been filled with passionate intensity and unexpected desire, and it'd left a mark on both of us, on me.

"So, Elizabeth, let's dive into these projects," Alexander began, his voice smooth and confident, snapping me back to the present.

I cleared my throat, trying to focus.

"Yes… yes, of course.”

My mind wandered as he began to detail the properties he was working on. His sharp jawline, expressive eyes, and captivatingsmile—were all too distracting. I looked away at the last moment before he noticed my staring.

"Is something on your mind, Elizabeth?" he asked, a playful glint in his eyes.

I blushed. "Oh, no, it's just... these projects are so impressive. I can't help but be amazed.”

Alexander leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a whisper.

"Working with beautiful people like you makes these projects even more enjoyable.”

Heat rushed to my cheeks, and my heart skipped a beat. Was he flirting with me? Or was I reading too much into it? I had to regain control of the conversation.

"I appreciate the compliment, Alexander, but let's stay focused on why I’m here," I replied, trying to sound professional.
