Dragging myself to my bedroom, I collapsed onto my bed, fully clothed, and sank into it with a contented sigh.

I soon felt a gentle nudge against my hand. Opening my eyes, I saw Teddy looking at me with his big, green, feline eyes.

"Purring already, Teddy?"

I whispered with a tired smile, reaching out to pet his soft fur. He pressed against my hand, purring even louder.

It’s as if he knew I needed comfort after such an eventful day.

As I lay on the bed, lost in thought and drifting off to sleep, I thought about Alexander, who'd made all of this possible.

This trip had taken our entanglement to a new, complicated level. He flew me to California, surprising me with a day at Disneyland, a shopping spree, and a fantastic meal.

Alexander was indeed someone special. He is a very thoughtful and generous man.

Monday 1:45 p.m.

I sat in my boss's office, my heart pounding with anticipation. Susan and I were about to discuss the first draft of the Hartman article I'd been working on.

It's a critical moment for my career, and I hoped Susan would be impressed with my work.

Susan's sharp eyes scanned the pages as I handed over the neatly printed draft.

Her expression was unreadable, and I couldn't help but feel a knot of anxiety in my stomach.

As Susan began to read, we could hear excited voices echoing from the corridor outside her office.

It was an unusual interruption, and we exchanged puzzled glances.

"What's going on out there?"

Susan asked, her curiosity getting the best of her.

We got up and stepped out of her office, joining the commotion in the hallway. There, among a small crowd, was Allan.

While I’d always known him as a talented artist with a heart of gold, the world first recognized him as the brother of a billionaire. That came before his art had catapulted him to fame, and I couldn't have been prouder of his journey.

"Allan!" I exclaimed, making my way to reach him.

He turned to me with a broad smile, his dark eyes twinkling with mischief.

I chuckled, embracing him.

"What are you doing here?"

Allan's charisma was undeniable, and he had captured the attention of everyone present.

Susan, who’d followed me, now stood beside me, intrigued by the scene.

"Elizabeth, you never told me your talented friend was coming today," Susan remarked, extending her hand to Allan.

Allan took her hand, shaking it with a charming smile.

"Allan Hartman, it's a pleasure to meet you. You must be Susan; I've heard so much about you."

Susan raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued.

"Oh, really? Elizabeth doesn't stop talking about you either, you know. She's quite proud of her talented artist friend."
