His words were heartfelt, and I couldn't help but smile at his genuine enthusiasm.

"That's wonderful, Alexander. I think you'll make an amazing father someday."

As he continued discussing his future aspirations as a parent, I felt emotion welling inside me.

I’d been carrying such a big secret that I hadn't yet found the right moment to share with him. Alexander's words aboutwanting children of his own made me realize that maybe the time had come.

I need to put my fears and concerns aside. He deserved to know.

I opened my mouth to speak, to tell him about my pregnancy, to say to him that he would be a father earlier than he might think, but just as the words were about to escape my lips, we reached the door to Allan's office.

Alexander turned the handle and walked inside, leaving me alone in the passageway for a few seconds.

Precious seconds I used to calm and collect myself before I stepped in after him.

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart, and followed him into the warm office, where I found him opening a window, allowing a cool breeze to softly blow through the room.

I was curious as I followed Alexander into Allan's office. Alexander stood boldly in the middle of the room, peeking beneath the covered canvases to glimpse the marvels Allan had painted and hidden from sight.

"Alexander," I said my voice a hushed plea. "We shouldn't be snooping like this."

He turned to me with a mischievous grin, his eyes dancing excitedly.

"Come on, Elizabeth, where's your sense of adventure? Aren’t you the least bit curious? He’s my brother and your best friend. We are the two most likely people he would forgive if he got upset or angry.”

My earlier discomfort about wanting to tell Alexander about the pregnancy disappeared.

I moved closer, reaching out to pull Alexander away from the paintings. As I did, the door swung shut behind me, and I was momentarily startled by the sudden isolation within Allan's creative sanctuary.

Alexander resisted my attempt to move him, his grip surprisingly strong. He leaned in closer, his voice low and intimate.

"You know, Elizabeth, ever since I walked into the party and saw you, I've wanted to kiss you."

My heart raced as his words hung in the air. I swallowed hard, my cheeks flushing crimson.

"Alexander, we shouldn't be doing this here.”

He didn't release his hold on me, instead drawing me nearer.

"I can't help it, Elizabeth," he whispered. "I've been wanting to get you alone."

His candid admission sent a shiver down my spine, and my mind raced. His eyes bore into mine with desire and vulnerability, a potent combination that was difficult to resist.

As his lips drew closer to mine, I could feel my willpower crumbling.

At that moment, I forgot about Allan's artwork, the closed door, and everything else. All that mattered was the magnetic pull between us.

Our lips met in a soft, tentative kiss, igniting a spark smoldering beneath the surface for far too long.

The kiss deepened, and I lost myself in the sensation of Alexander's lips against mine. It blended familiarity and discovery, like uncovering a hidden treasure.

Our bodies pressed together, and time seemed to stand still. I released a soft sigh of surrender, my fingers tangling in his hair as I pulled him closer.

We broke the kiss, both breathless, our foreheads resting against each other.

"Wow," Alexander murmured, his voice husky with desire.

I couldn't help but smile, my heart still racing.
