As I stirred out of sleep, I felt his eyes on me even without opening mine.

"Good morning."

I sat up with a long stretch.

"Good morning. Why do I feel like I was babysat?"

Alexander laughed.

"Not really. I enjoy watching you sleep. Plus, I got a text from Al this morning. He said he wants to have breakfast with me and will invite you, too.”

I gasped, finally sitting up.

”He did?!”

“Yeah. I told him we’ll be there by 9.”

I quickly picked up my phone and saw Allan’s text inviting me to breakfast, telling me his brother would be there also and asking if 9 a.m. would work for me.

I replied that it was fine. I gasped as I jumped out of the bed. I’d forgotten entirely that we snuck out.

I'm sure Allan had searched everywhere for us, and now it was morning. I turned around and looked at Alexander, completely confused.

"What are we going to do?

How will I explain to Allan why I'm still in my dress from last night?

How am I going to get ready in time?

I don’t have anything to wear. This isn’t how he should find out about us.”

Alexander smiled, pulling me in for a hug.

"Relax. I’ve got you. I had Hilda run to the mall this morning and pick up a few sundresses in your size. All you need to do is shower and get dressed. We'll both easily be ready before 9."

I heaved a massive sigh of relief and leaned for a kiss. It was wet and soft. I had fallen head over heels for Alexander, and his way of thinking kept him one step ahead all the time.

I enjoyed how he loved to take responsibility.

Hilda had picked various sundresses, and I chose the yellow one for breakfast with Allan. It fit perfectly, and the tummy area was loose. The color highlighted my blonde hair, and I felt beautiful.

When we got to the restaurant, Allan was already seated and looking through the menu, looking very confused. He noticed us as we walked in together, and his face broke into a huge smile.

"Hey, I've been looking everywhere for you two," he exclaimed, a hint of suspicion in his voice. His eyes danced between us, trying to gauge our expressions.

Alexander spoke up.

"I swung by Elizabeth's place to pick her up since we’re scheduled for another interview after this."

It was a lie, but I felt relief wash over me because I hadn’t even thought to have an excuse for why we'd shown up together or why we both happened to have disappeared last night.

Allan looked at me.

"Oh? So how come you both disappeared last night?"

I chuckled, adjusting the strap of my sundress nervously.

"We were just admiring your artwork, Allan," I replied.
