"Elizabeth,” I said, my voice softening as I slowly reached for her hand and pulled her away from the bench. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at me.

"I wasn’t sure how you’d react. I was scared, and I needed time to process it myself. I was also worried. I wasn't sure if you liked me. If you wanted to want to raise a child with me or if I’d have to do it alone."

Her words hit me like a wave. I’d never been particularly expressive, but I thought I’d clarified how much I cared for her.

“Elizabeth," I said. "I like you more than you know. I want to be with you. I want to raise this child, our child, with you."

She seemed surprised for a moment, processing my words. Then, a hesitant smile played on her lips as she asked, "Are you sure?"

I didn't hesitate for a second.

"I'm 100% sure."

With that, she stepped closer, and I pulled her into my arms, holding her tightly to try to express the words I couldn’t yet share.

The embrace was filled with the weight of our newfound commitment, and it felt like the beginning of a beautiful journey. Our lips met in a tender kiss, sealing our promise.

"Thank you for trusting me enough to share this with me," I said sincerely as we slowly pulled our lips apart. "I'll be here with you every step of the way."

She smiled, her eyes shining with emotion.

"I'm glad you're here, Alex."

We continued walking, but now we were infused with a renewed sense of closeness and purpose. The uncertainty in the air had disappeared, replaced by a shared vision of the future.

Elizabeth slowed and brought up another important matter.

"Alexander," she began, "We need to tell Allan about our relationship… and the baby."

I nodded, realizing it was a conversation we couldn't postpone any longer.

"You're right. I think it's time."

I began to wonder how Allan would react. I was dating his best friend; he had every right to be mad, especially since we kept it from him for several weeks already.

My brother was one of the most kind-hearted men on earth, but he had occasional outbursts that I’d witnessed. I hoped that Elizabeth and I wouldn’t cause him to get to that point. I sighed.

I remembered the surprise I’d been saving for her as we returned to the restaurant's parking lot.

Her announcement momentarily made me forget, but I was even happier that I had decided to give it to her. I wanted to make her life more comfortable, and the timing was perfect. I wouldn’t worry about her, and now the baby.

"Elizabeth," I said, my tone filled with anticipation. "Do you remember me mentioning that I had surprises for you earlier?"

She looked at me, curious and intrigued.

"Yes?"

I smiled and gestured towards a sleek Rolls Royce parked nearby.

"I bought this car for you. David will be your driver and is here to care for your transportation needs. I noticed you had bonded and knew it would be a good fit."

Elizabeth's eyes widened in shock.

"What! You didn't have to do this. You don’t have to do this! It’s too much, Alexander!”

I took her phone and entered David's number.
