"You're… you and Alexander are together?"

Allan finally managed to say, his voice tinged with hurt.

Allan's face went through a whirlwind of emotions, from disbelief to shock, finally settling on a deep frown.

He sighed and looked away momentarily, running a hand through his hair. When he turned back to me, his eyes were filled with hurt and betrayal.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner, Elizabeth? I thought we told each other everything," Allan said, his voice filled with hurt.

I swallowed hard, struggling to find the right words.

"I wanted to, Allan. But neither of us thought it was serious at first, and we’re worried about how you’d react. We didn’t want you to feel like you had to choose sides. We didn’t want to hurt you. I’m so sorry, Allan."

Allan's frustration grew, and he said, "So, you and my brother decided to keep this huge secret from me? Elizabeth, you're my best friend, and he's my brother. I can't believe you both did this."

Tears welled in my eyes, and I reached to touch Allan's arm.

"I kept thinking the right time to tell you would come, but time just slipped away."

Allan shook his head, his eyes filled with disappointment.

"You should've found time. You should’ve trusted me, Elizabeth. I could’ve handled the news, no matter how shocking. You didn't give me a chance. You didn’t trust me enough to share such an important event in your life, in Alexander’s life. Do you think so little of me you didn’t think I could handle it?”

I could see the pain in Allan's eyes, and it felt like a dagger in my heart.

I had always valued our friendship above all else, and now it seemed I had jeopardized it.

"I understand why you're upset, Allan," I said, my voice quivering. "I just hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me and support us through this."

He took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"I need time to process. This is a lot to take in."

I took a deep breath, my heart pounding, and began to speak.

"I know you're hurt and have every right to be. I want you to know that I deeply regret not telling you sooner about my relationship with Alexander. You're my best friend, and I should’ve trusted you with this."

I swallowed hard and dropped the next bomb.

"Allan, I need to tell you I'm pregnant."

Allan's eyes bulged.

"What? You're pregnant with Alexander’s child?!!!"

Before I could respond, Alexander walked out from behind the door. He’d been listening to our conversation and decided it was time to step in.

Alexander spoke, his voice steady but remorseful.

"Allan, I'm equally at fault here. We should’ve told you earlier. I'm sorry for the way we handled this."

Allan's eyes moved back and forth between us, his expression still guarded.

"It's not just about the relationship. It's the fact that both of you kept this from me for so long. It feels like a betrayal."

I nodded, tears welling up in my eyes.

"I understand how you feel. I should have told you, and I should have been more honest with you. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me."
