Alexander added, "You’re my brother, and I love you. I didn't want to see you hurt. But I see now that we should’ve been more upfront with you, and I apologize for that."

Allan's eyes softened, but the hurt was still evident.

"You’ve both disappointed me tremendously. I would have never expected you to withhold this from me."

I reached out to touch Allan's hand, tears streaming down my face.

"I can't express how sorry I am. I love you like a brother, and I hope we can find a way to mend our friendship."

Alexander nodded in agreement.

"Allan, we're family and don't want this to come between us. We're willing to do whatever it takes to make things right."

Tears welled up in my eyes as Allan continued.

"You're my best friend, Elizabeth, and my brother, Alexander. I don't want to lose either of you over this. You both mean too much to me."

I couldn't hold back my tears any longer, and they spilled down my cheeks.

"Allan, I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that. I love you and never want to lose you as a friend."

Allan's expression softened, and he reached out to give me a reassuring hug.

"You really should have told me, Elizabeth. I've always been here for you, always."

I returned his hug gratefully, feeling a weight lift off my shoulders.

"I'm sorry, Allan. I should have trusted you more."

Then, Allan backtracked.

"Wait a minute," he said, pulling away from the hug. "You said you’re pregnant?"

Alexander nodded with a proud grin.

"Yes, Allan, we're expecting. You're going to be an uncle!"

Allan's eyes widened, and his face lit up with joy.

"That's incredible! Congratulations, you two!"

I couldn't help but smile at his reaction. "Thank you, Allan. Your support means the world to us."

Allan hugged me again and then turned to Alexander.

"You know, you two really should have told me earlier. I can't believe you thought you were being secretive. I knew something was happening between you, but I didn't want to pry. You both asked me for relationship advice. It was days apart, and you thought I wouldn't figure out who you were talking about. But I saw how you looked at each other. Deep down, I knew something was going on."

Alexander chuckled, admitting defeat.

"I guess we're not as discreet as we thought. Coincidentally, we’re also getting engaged in two weeks!"

Allan slapped Alexander on the back enthusiastically.

"That’s wonderful news. I'm happy for you both, truly."

As we stood there, surrounded by the warmth and acceptance of family, I realized that sometimes, the fear of judgment can keep us from sharing our happiness with those we care about.

Allan's reaction had taught me that true friends and family would always stand by our side, no matter what surprises life had in store for us.
