Alexander

The engagement party was in full swing downstairs. As I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting my tie, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with nervousness.

Elizabeth and I had strong feelings for each other, and with a ring on her finger, we would take the next step in our journey.

I wanted this night to be perfect, not just for us but for everyone who had come to celebrate with us.

As I smoothed down my tuxedo jacket, I heard the familiar sound of Allan and Jon's boisterous laughter from the library.

Jon had been like a brother to me for as long as I could remember. Almost as much as Allan. I smiled to myself, knowing that their presence would ensure the party was anything but dull.

I went down the grand staircase, my polished shoes clicking softly on the marble steps.

The moment I reached the bottom, I was greeted by the sight of our closest friends and family, all gathered in the elegant ballroom.

The room was elegantly decorated with beautiful and fragrant floral arrangements, setting the perfect ambiance for the occasion.

I bypassed the ballroom and joined Allan and Jon in my study, the room bathed in the warm, dim light of the antique chandeliers.

The anticipation was palpable as we gathered around my large mahogany desk. Allan, my ever-reliable brother, was the first to break the silence with a mischievous grin.

"Alexander, my man, you're in for a treat," Allan said, reaching into his pocket and carefully producing a small velvet box he’d picked up for me.

My heart skipped a beat as he opened it, revealing the most exquisite diamond ring I’d ever seen.

It was a masterpiece, a dazzling display of craftsmanship and elegance. The centerpiece was a flawless, round, brilliant-cut ten-carat diamond, so clear and pure that it seemed to hold the essence of love. It sparkled brilliantly in the soft light, casting colorful reflections on the walls.

The band, made of platinum, had flawless round brilliant cut diamonds in 2 carats on each side with perfect sapphires in a halo effect around the two diamonds, which added to the overall enchantment of the ring.

It was a piece of artistry that bespoke the finest materials and the depth of my feelings for Elizabeth.

I couldn't help but catch my breath at the sight of it. "Allan, it's... it's breathtaking."

Jon gave a low whistle as he leaned in to look closer.

"Alexander, Elizabeth is one lucky girl. That ring is out of this world."

I chuckled, my heart swelling with pride.

"Well, I just hope she likes it."

Allan and Jon burst into laughter, the sound filling the room like music. Their joy was infectious, and I couldn't help but join in.

Allan clapped me on the back.

"Trust me, she'll love it, and she'll love you even more for it."

We went downstairs to join the party with the ring safely ensconced in my pocket.

The grand ballroom was alive with laughter and conversation as our friends and family mingled, enjoying the evening's festivities.

A beautiful red-haired woman approached Jon, Allan, and me.

Her dress was a masterpiece in itself; it was emerald green and shimmered under the soft lights. The fabric draped gracefully, the neckline was tastefully adorned with intricate lacework, and a subtle train trailed behind her as she walked.

Allan greeted her with a handshake, then turned and grinned.

"Susan, this is my brother, Alexander."
