"Alexander's family will love you. And if they don't, your father here will fight them for you."

My dad lost in thought, perked up at her words and chimed in without missing a beat, "Yes, of course. I'll fight them."

I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Leave it to my mother to sacrifice my father as my champion and my father to agree to fight on my behalf, even in the most unlikely scenarios.

His protective nature had always been a source of comfort for me.

"Thanks, Dad," I said, my anxiety easing.

"But I highly doubt there'll be any fighting involved."

With that, we made our way out of the house and toward the helipad, where the family was disembarking from their helicopter.

As we approached, my father couldn't help but quietly ask my mother with a hint of amusement.

"Who are we fighting?"

My mother chuckled softly, shaking her head at my dad's playful seriousness.

"No one, dear. We're not fighting anyone today."

As we got closer to the helicopter, I couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and apprehension.

This was the first time I would be meeting Alexander's extended family, and I wanted to make a good impression.

My mother's comforting words echoed in my mind as I took a deep breath and tried to calm my racing heart.

Alexander's aunt, Mrs. Lawrence, stepped out of the helicopter with elegance. Her hair, a rich and lustrous black, framed herface like a crown, and she moved with a grace that made it seem as if she were stepping out of a luxury car rather than a helicopter.

My heart raced as I watched her, apprehension gnawing at me. She epitomized sophistication and beauty, and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of insecurity.

How could I possibly measure up to someone like her?

Ever the attentive host, Alexander greeted his family with a beaming smile.

Allan was by his side, equally delighted to see their aunt and cousins. I followed behind, offering my hand and introducing myself as politely as possible.

"Hello, I’m Elizabeth," I said, trembling ever so slightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Mrs. Lawrence took my hand in hers, her warm smile reaching her eyes.

"Elizabeth, it's wonderful to meet you, finally," she replied, her voice filled with genuine warmth.

"Alexander has told us so much about you."

Relief washed over me as her words put me at ease. Maybe I’d been worrying for nothing. Perhaps I’d find a connection with her after all.

As the evening unfolded, I was drawn into Alexander’s family’s world.

Their travel, culture, and business stories were fascinating. Mrs. Lawrence, in particular, was captivating, sharing herexperiences and wisdom with me in a way that made me feel included and valued.

As the night wore on and the celebration continued, I couldn't help but feel a growing connection with Alexander’s aunt.

It was a pleasant surprise, one that I hadn't anticipated. She was a remarkable woman, and I found myself genuinely liking her.

At one point, as we chatted near the mansion's grand entrance, Mrs. Lawrence turned to me with a twinkle in her eye.
