The sigh leaving Tiero’s body is cathartic.

“That’s all that matters. The rest will fall into place.”

“Tiero, sometimes love isn’t enough.”

“It’s the best basis,” he counters. “I love you so much, angel. I could never let you go. And now that we’re having a child together? I want to be part of his life–”

“Or hers,” I interrupt.

Will he freak out when I tell him we’re likely having a girl?

“Or hers,” he corrects. “I deserve to be a father to our baby.”

God, it would have been so much easier to walk away had he never found out.

“Give us a chance, angel. Please.”

Silence descends on the room. Our eyes are locked on each other and not even an earthquake could break our connection.

The energy between us whirls like a tempest, gaining more and more momentum.

He cups my face in his large hands, and I snuggle deeper into the warmth of his skin. He leans in and softly connects our lips.

“Please, Ella,” he implores again. “We’ll find a way… together.”

My knees weaken at his seductive tone. I want to give in, want to say yes… but I’m afraid to.

How will I ever have a normal life if I give in now?

But my doubts aren’t what comes out of my mouth.

Who is this person talking using my voice?

“No more steamrolling me. No more deciding what happens in my life without talking to me about it first,” I mumble against his lips as they dance with mine. “Promise me.”

“I promise,” he breathes into my mouth, deepening the kiss.

One of his hands threads through my hair, gripping it tightly, as I rise onto my tiptoes, eliminating a few more inches between us.

This is a bad idea. I shouldn’t give in so easily.

But, in this moment, everything else seems inconsequential.

The world could disappear, and it wouldn’t matter. Nothing is more important than this connection between us.

I’m unable to resist the allure of his touch and the overwhelming rush of emotions that comes with it.

He pulls away for a moment and as our eyes meet, I see a reflection of my own desire mirrored in his gaze. It’s as if we’re communicating on a level beyond words, with our souls in a delicate dance.

In his hazel-brown eyes, I find comfort, reassurance, and an unspoken promise of something deeper yet to be explored.

His presence envelopes me, making me feel safe and cherished. It’s a strange dichotomy, given he’s the reason I’ve been in danger and running for my life.

But all that seems forgotten.

The world may keep moving around us, but for this brief, exquisite moment, we’re the only two people who matter.

His lips once more descend on mine, his other hand winding around my waist to pull me closer until my body is pressed flush against his.
