Her confidence is such a turn on. A moment later, the engine purrs to life.

Ella and I exchange a triumphant grin.

“That’s how it’s done,” she says.

A sense of pride hits my chest. My girl is a total surprise package.

I grin at her.

Her eyes sparkle. “You’re pretty good with your hands,” she says as I wipe them with the piece of cloth.

When she realizes the innuendo, her face turns a deep crimson red that rivals the vibrancy of the sky. She quickly looks away.

I lean in closer and whisper into her ear, “I’m extremely good with my hands. And my fingers? I know just how to move them for ultimate pleasure.”

I didn’t think it was possible, but Ella’s blush deepens, her hands shaking as she lowers the bonnet.

She clears her throat. “Umm… I meant with cars. Your hands… you…,” she stutters. I love that I made her flustered.

“I learned a thing or two in the army,” I tell her. “You’re car-savvy. Who taught you?”

“My grandfather. He was a Formula One mechanic. He wanted to make sure I could help myself.” Her nervous smile turns into a genuine grin. “You know, in case my car ever broke down while I was crossing a foreign country, while on the run from the Italian mafia and my male companion was too focused on checking me out to see what was wrong with the car.”

I wink at her. Guess I was caught red-handed.

“How old were you when you played mechanic with your grandfather?” I ask, wanting to learn more about her.

What am I saying? I want to learneverythingabout her.

“I used to spend a few weeks each summer with my grandparents in Austria from when I was nine. Opa always tinkered with cars and would show me his projects, explaining how everything worked.

“When I was old enough for my feet to reach the pedals, he secretly taught me how to drive. I had to promise him, though, never to sneak off in a car. At least not until I was eighteen.”

The memory makes her smile, her face taking on a faraway look.

“Of course, we only ever drove on deserted roads. A bit similar to this one,” she adds, tipping her head to the side.

“Talking about deserted roads, we should get back on it,” I reluctantly say.

Spending this time with her fixing the car, has lowered her defenses and shown me more glimpses of her; the real Ella she tries to hide from me to keep me at arm’s length.

Though our sudden change of plans was annoying at first, now I’m grateful for it. I have at least a week on this road trip to get to know her better and explore this insane attraction.

I want to ask her out, take her on dates… make her mine. My cock twitches at that thought.

Not now, fucker.

One step at a time.

Claudette returns when she hears the car idling.

“You two are geniuses,” she praises.

“Actually,Iam,” Ella retorts, nudging my arm with a wink.

We get back in the car and pull onto the road. I listen carefully to the engine, but it sounds smooth and happy… for now. Then a rumble echoes through the cabin.

“Was that the car?” Claudette asks.
