“You’re a fucking goddess,” I whispered against her skin, then I pushed her on the bed and dropped to my knees on the floor.

“Wait—” she murmured, a whisper of hesitation in her voice.

My mouth was hovering over her clit but I stopped any movements I planned to make and looked up at her. She sat up a little, her eyes glassy with sudden concern.

“We don’t have to do anything,” I assured her. “I can stop—”

“I’ve never done this before—”

“Had sex?”

“No, I—I have done that but I’ve never had anyone go—go down on me, before,” she whispered in the smallest voice I’d ever heard.

Nothing had ever been hotter than hearing that I would be the first man to taste this woman. I groaned, unable to stop the feral sound from leaving my mouth. “Oh, Sierra. You have no idea how much I’m going to enjoy this.”

I gently blew over her tender, throbbing skin. Her breath hitched, a soft moan filling my ears as I did it again.

“Do you want me to continue?” I asked.

She nodded, and I didn’t hide the grin that stretched across my face before I gripped her thighs and licked her, tasted her.Fuck me.

I knew I wouldn’t last long when I was inside of her, not when I was already close to losing myself entirely watching her squirm and beg with her fingers tangled in my hair. She clamped down around my fingers and I picked up the pace with my tongue. She came undone around my fingers and the sounds she made were like music to my ears.

I grabbed a condom out of the drawer in the bedside table and put it on before climbing onto the bed.

She spread her trembling legs wide for me as she nodded, her mouth parted as a silent “please” left her lips.

She was paradise. One hard thrust and I was sheathed to hilt, both of us panting. But I stilled and locked eyes with her, something I rarely did even in the wildest, most passionate of encounters.

I felt like she might have been inexperienced in this. Something tugged deep in my chest as her hands rested on my upper arms.

“Are you okay?” I asked, brushing her hair away from her face.

“I’ve never been better,” she panted, giving me a quick smile.

I opened my mouth to say that I had never been better as well but the words didn’t come out. I just kissed her and kissed her andkissed heruntil we were rolling through the sheets and worshipping each other’s bodies in ways that were completely new to me.

To my credit I lasted a lot longer than I’d expected.

The sex was the best I’d ever had. Nothing could top it.

I fell asleep with Sierra wrapped in my arms, her leg crossed over my thighs. My fingertips grazed over her spine as I felt her breathing slow.

My mind was blank, my body totally and utterly spent.

And all I could think—the only word in my head… wasstay.

Chapter Two

Sierra

The headlights of the old, beat-up Volvo I’d bought for seven-hundred dollars somewhere in rural Missouri weren’t doing much to light up my path as I traveled down a long, empty stretch of highway. It was barely five in the morning, and a light shower of late summer rain sprinkled over the car as I sat wrapped in one of Pete’s button-up shirts and tried to hold back tears.

I was running with no plan, hardly any money, and the crushing weight of the mess I’d left behind.

But I couldn’t look back now. I’d cut ties with my family, with my fiancé, and that was unforgivable.

Almost as unforgivable as what I’d done in Hot Springs, Montana only hours ago.
